Question about Dryers

Loud squealing, and hanging burnt wire off of heating element

Took my 3 yr old maytag dryer apart to research loud squealing, cleaned and re greased rear drum rollers, and the idler pulley roller. They didn't seem to be in bad shape. The bel has a few small cracks so I was going to order a new one. The black wire from the motor to heating element was burned back 3-4 inches up wire, and just hanging in mid air, the copper connector was still attached to element and charred. I tested the two terminals on element w/ voltmeter and it registered 2-3 ohms,I read it should be between 9-13. The other two things attached to element read 0 ohms. I hope the new belt will fix the squealing but I am worried as to what caused the burned wire off of heating element?? Any help would be greatly appreciated, money is kind of tight, I have three kids and I'm trying to fix this myself to save some money.

Sometimes, there is a flaw in the wiring from the factory where the wire came from or at the manufacturer. Sometimes this is caused by "work hardening" the wire. This is where the wire is worked back and forth until it breaks or becomes weak. This is usually the cause when the wire breaks further up the wire.

What size wire? When you replaced the heating coil, what did you use? Was it OEM? What part number? Do you have an ohm meter?

My maytag neptune dryer would not warm up

My 2 yr old Maytag dryer took forever to heat up. called the repairman and I found out that when the company I bought the dryer from installed it they kinked the duct hose. Solenoid was replaced but burnt out since the duct when obtructed. You might want to pull the dryer out and check the hose.

Maytag Dryer MDE3706AYW has a burnt black wire, did the wire just have a bad day or do I need to replace the heating element and the wire?

All should be good. I think the element had run on due to a bad hi-limit thermostat that you said you replaced.

Try for help and parts. You are going to need heat resistant grease, and probably snap ring pliers.

What caused wires to be burnt at clips that connects to part

that's your cycling thermostat and it's bad also check continuity of your thermal fuse (usually off white and looks like a tilted square) and check your high limit thermostat (closest to the heat element) and also check that the heat element is not broken any place throughout the coil of it. While you have it apart clean out the build up of lint everywhere.

Load squeal

if you can take your dryer apart, you'll have to take the drum out and lubricate the bearing that is located in the center under the drum while there check wellness of your heat element if located there. Anyway use high temp grease on this bearing looks more like a ball

Maytag neptune breakdown

Warning! Shock Hazard! Disconnect dryer from power source before servicing.
I assume you repaired a wire that attaches to a white ceramic insulator terminal? If you have a volt-ohm meter, you can check continuity of the element and hi-limit thermostat and overtemp.fuse located on the element shroud. If you ddon't have access to a meter then visually inspect the element for a break in the coil. The fuse and hi-limit can be temporarily bypassed 1 at a time to eliminate 1 or the other being faulty. Also double check your heat temperature settings on the control panel to make sure it did not become de-selected. There are also temperature control thermostats attached to the blower housing in lower left corner of the dryer that can be temporarily bypassed to test for failure. Tip: Clean lint filter after each load. Clean vent to outside,(check every 3-6 months), and refrain from overloading dryer. This will help extend the life span of the element and the dryer itself.

Hope this helps!
