The sunroof assembly has to be removed from the car before the shade can be removed.

Start with the sunroof glass, put the glass in tilt mode and remove the plastic covers hiding the bolts. Mark the bolts with white out so they go back where they were, remove the 6 T25 torx bolts. Push the glass out from the top and remove the glass. This should allow you to remove the shade.

The upholstery on my sun roof shade (VW Jetta 1997) HAS COME AWAY FROM THE board. How do I get at the shade to repair the upholstery?

You must remove the entire headliner and unbolt the sunroof, it a pretty big job. If you can find a shop that will do a new headliner and sunroof cloth for $200 it's worth it. If you don't shim the sunroof when rebolting it you'll get air leaks on one side or the other.

1998 Audi A6 sunroof is will close only half way.

make it go back to the open position, look down the side of the tracks in the roof that the sun shade slides in and you will probable find the guides for the sunshade are jamming up the tracks. only way to replace them<4 one in each corner> is to remove the glass section and then close sunshade that will give access to the 4 guides which are available from dealer as a kit

Sun roof wont close electrically. how can i do it manually

Somewhere on the roof of the car, in front of the sunroof, you may have a small plastic square (my 99 A4 has this). Open that up and there's a screw-drive setup inside that you can turn to close it manually. If your car doesn't have that, it may be up underneath the map/dome lights on the headliner.

1996 Auidi A4 Quattro

I'd need as much information about anything related to your driving observations to being to try and diagnose the driveability problems, but the sunroof is an easy fix, as this is a known issue on the A4. Here's a step-by-step procedure with pictures that will show you how to fix it easily:

Let me know if that doesn't work (I bet it will though).
