PowerBook G4 won't eject cd by any means found on apple support

My PowerBook G4 won't eject the CD. None of the ejecting CD solutions I have seen on the Apple Support web site seem to work. When I use any of the ejecting options, the laptop goes through the motions of ejecting the desktop icons, and the mechanism kicks in trying to eject the CD. But you can hear that it does not eject, then it takes it back and sets it all back on the desktop. Is there another way to get this out?

If you can hear that it's trying, it might be getting pinched while trying to eject, especially if something pressed down on the case at that spot. Try gently widening the opening with a flat head screwdriver while you are ejecting the CD. just put the driver in and twist a bit to widen the slot. Also, check to make sure that the fuzzy stuff that brushes off the disk when you insert it - and keeps out dust - hasn't been damaged. If it is partially missing, the missing part may be inside, keeping the CD from ejecting.

Stuck cd in a PowerBook G4

A few ways of doing this

restart mac and press down the trackpad after you hear the startup noise

if that does not work try opening up disk utility and click on the icon of your disk under the left hand column then go up to eject button and click eject

or open up terminal found in the utilities folder within your applications folder and then type in
drutil tray eject and then press return

Finally what to do is try pick up your macbook tilt the macbook to the one side and press the eject key and hopefully the effect of gravity will allow the CD to fall out.

One other way to do it which I have used recently but IT CAN BREAK THE CD DRIVE (Use it at your own risk), so only use it as a last resort. Get a thin piece of plastic and put a piece of double sided tape on it then with the macbook switched off insert the piece of plastic with the tape facing down in relation to the keyboard. Put it in about half an inch and you may be able to drag the CD out.

Hope this helps.

How do you eject a cd from a mac powerbook g4 . How do you download a game?

Use the mouse to click "down" on the icon for the CD, and then "drag" that icon to the Trash bin, and the CD will eject.

Browse to the game's web-site, and click to download the game to your computer.

Burned a CD and it will not eject. The CD is in my 17" PowerBook G4, but does not populate on my desktop. It's as if the computer does not recognize the CD at all.

If you restart your Mac, holding down the mouse button while it is starting, will eject any cd or dvd. Once the disc ejects just release the mouse button and the computer continues it's startup procedure.

PowerBook Aluminum G4 1.67GHZ

Kim,  I'm glad you asked this.  I have had problems with my superdrive as well.  What I found out through persistent research is this:     The new Superdrives can take CD+R and DVD+R.  (I am assuming you are asking about recording?   However, the older models of Superdrives ---usually found in Powerbook G4s, can take CD-R and DVD-R.  These are different from the first ones ini that they are slower to burn, and just a few gb short of space than the +.  this should help solve the problem with taking new cds and dvds for burning.  The superdrive tends to just spit these right back out.  If you are referring to playing them, then have you tried cleaning the dirty ones?  Check the help section at www.apple.com.  they have wonderful solutions.  Try to put in a couple new cds or dvds to play.  Open up itunes or the dvd player before you put the disks in.  If you're still having trouble, make use of that warranty and go to your nearest apple store to fix it right up! Hope this helps!
