Loud clunking in final spin

It is making a loud clunking noise, like it is off balance. It is also leaving pieces of white plastic shreds in my clothes.

What could be causing this? Will it be an easy fix or time to buy a new one?

It is a Frigidaire Model#GLTF167OSAO, is is approx. 6 years old.

I had the same problem. Thgought maybe the legs needed adjustment. Took the bottom front cover off and saw that the "Shock absorber on the right side was broken and was not providing any support. The shock on the left appeared ok. These shocks were round and the attachments were made of white plastic. (maybe your source of white plastic debris you have been seeing. Local applicance part store had parts. The shocks come in pairs (different design) I replaced both and everyone in the family is amazed with how quite and smooth the washer runs now.

When it hits the spin cycle the drum makes a loud clunking noise, and found some white plastic piece that came out.

Sounds like the drum bearings have gone. This is a big job to do. If the machine is 5 years old and has done a lot of work, think about a new machine as may be cheaper in the long run.

My kenmore 417 wahser making too much noise, it looks like the inner tub hitting the outer plastic housing. How can I fix it?

Have you tried moving the clothes around in the drum to balance the drum BEFORE you was them? If that works, you have solved the problem! Most people forget that when cloth gets wet it gets heavy so leaving the clothes unevenly placed in the drum dry will make a real problem when they get wet!

Wash machine won't spin all the time and makes a loud banging noise.

Check to make sure that your clothes are not piled to one side causing the load to be off-balance. If that does'nt fix it then, It may be that your machine has a balance stabilizer on it that has worked its way loose or even off.

Washer makes noises

You said, when the washer is going into spin cycle it makes a loud clunking noise. You are wondering if this could be the brakes or possibly the pump?

Sounds like this!

Faulty direct drive Coupling (Whirlpool / Kenmore / Roper / Estate)
The direct drive (motor) Coupling may be broken. Many Whirlpool/Kenmore brands washing machines utilize a small, relatively inexpensive direct drive motor coupling. It's plastic and rubber and is mounted to the shaft of the motor on one side, and to the transmission on the other.

It can wear out over time or fail under overloading conditions. This protects your transmission from excessive loading.
it can also be a broken spring or strut dependping on your washes make and type

Loud banging on spin cycle frigidare washing machine model no. fws235rft2

If this is a front loader this is a common problem. Unfortunately, it is also a very extensive project (about 8 hours). The tripod supports that attache the drum to the center spindle commonly break. The remedy is to replace both the front and rear tub, and the basket as well. It is also recommended that you replace the drain pump as well. Generally, they will cover the parts (not including the drain pump) under warranty but the labor will be a customer pay.
