I have escndv.exe error problem with 4490 scanner. I've reinstalled the drivers and it still comes up

Hi there,

The first thing to try is uninstall the Epson Scan. Via either the start
menu item if one exits or from the Control Panel Add/Remove Programs.

Reboot computer.

Install the latest driver from the epson web site -

http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&oid=50666&infoType=Overview

Latest is 2.68A for WindowsXP, etc.
You should go ahead and download a fresh copy from the web, your copy may be
corrupted.

After the install, reboot.

If that does not solve the problem.
You got to go deeper.

Remove the Epson scan. (again).

Backup your registry.
Edit the registry and remove all references to the Epson Scan.
Remove the folders and entries for Epson Scan in \Windows\Twain_32\

Reboot:
Install Epson scan.

Good Luck!!

Escndv.exe problem connected with Epson scanner 4490 Photo

http://www.howtomendit.com/answers.php?id=64090

Go here: C:\Document
s and Settings\[username]\Application Data\EPSON\ESCNDV\ES0058

and delete any image files in that folder. The last folder might have a different number depending on your scanner. It should start working again.

If you can't see that folder - click on My Computer - in the menu click on Tools and select 'Folder options..." Click on tab 'View' and select 'Show hidden files and folders'

You should now be able to see 'Application Data' in Docs and Settings...

I have an Epson Perfection 3590 Photo and when I tried to open it this appears:"escndv.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. Sorry for the...etc." I have already downloaded the Epson Scan...

This file that cannot be found "DICElib.dll" is actually installed by the LaserSoft SilverFast driver that comes with both scanner models. This file gets placed in the Epson Scan folders during installation because the LaserSoft SilverFast Driver works in conjunction with the Epson Scan driver for communication to the scanner. The solution to this issue is to uninstall and re-install the LaserSoft SilverFast Driver and NOT the Epson Scan driver.

On the "Start Here" poster it says that you have to install the Epson scan driver first before installing the LaserSoft SilverFast. Other possible causes are that the file has become corrupt, has been moved or has been deleted.

If this will not work, please call epson technical support. They have troubleshooting steps for that type of issue that cannot be disclosed here.

Please let them know if you have any other scanners or digital cameras installed on your system. If so, provide the model and manufacturer.

Loading negative film in holder.

The button under the top door is for ejecting the film strip. To load negatives you just insert them until the machine recognizes them and then it will automatically load them.

Scanner wont scan

I have an Epson Perfection scanner and it has always worked perfectly. Then, out of the blue, it completely stopped working. I cannot recall the error codes, but the solution I found was to uninstall/reinstall. I still don't know what occurred to create the problem, but it has worked flawlessly since the reinstallation.

Good luck.

I have a problem with my Epson Perfection 3590 PHOTO scanner. I have used it successfully for scanning photos and documents, but finally found some negatives to try scanning, but it didn't wo I followed the step-by-step Scanning 35 mm Negatives instructions under Scanning Film and Slides on page 4 of your .PDF manual found at https://files.support.epson.com/pdf/pr359p/pr359ppg.pdf until step 5. Step 5 states, ""Slowly slide the film into the loader. Let go of the film when the scanner begins to automatically feed it into position," but the scanner did not begin to automatically feed the negatives. Instead, I used the grey manual knob located on the underside of the lid to feed the strip of negatives into position. I launched the Epson Scan software and ran a scan in Full Auto Mode, but it only scanned the underside of the scanner lid like a photograph or document. I next tried Home Mode. Under Document Type, the only options are: Photograph, Illustration, Magazine, Newspaper, and Text/Line Art. There are no Film, Negatives, or Slides options. So I finally tried Professional Mode. Under the Original settings section, Document Type is defaulted to Reflective, so I clicked the drop-down arrow to change it to Film, which is shown, but the Film option is greyed out and cannot be selected. Several times I tried unplugging and reconnecting the cover cable to make sure its connected tightly and examined the plug and port with a magnifying glass to see there are no bent or missing pins. The connection is secure, but the scanner lid is still unresponsive (for example, the Eject button has no effect) and the software still doesn't allow me to set the operation to Film. I then tried the following steps, but still no change: 1. Launched Epson Scan software 2. Under Professional mode, clicked on Configuration at the bottom of the Epson Scan window 3. On the Configuration window, clicked on the Other tab, and clicked on Reset All 4. Confirmed restoring of Epson Scan 5. Launched the Epson Scan program again to try scanning negatives, but the problem remained. I downloaded and installed the latest recommended driver from epson.com/support, but that didn't help either. An Epson tech support agent I spoke with over the phone told me it must be a hardware problem, but the unit is out of warranty, so I'd have to take it to the nearest service center, which is 20 miles away, and pay to get it repaired or buy a new one. I took apart the lid to look for any obvious issues like bad connections or blown circuit components, but found nothing unusual or out of place. What can I try next to fix this thing myself? Thanks!
