Just bought a Motorola Bluetooh HS850 headset and I'm following the pairing instructions to put the headset in pairing mode. Instructions say to hold down the multi-function button for 6 seconds till the light stays solid, then open the boom mic and the light should remain solid indicating the headset is in pairing mode. However, when I do this, the light will not stay solid and I can not pair my phone with the head set. Any ideas short of returning the product?

Athought I have paired many phones without incident, this one seems to have a problem. I have tried holding the button down to get the solid blue light and then opening the boom quickly (while still holding the button down) and it still will not stay solid. It goes right into flashing mode. Could it be the button/boom connection is defective?

I'm holding the botton down but nothing is happening. the light stays on but shuts off shortly.

There actually is a trick to the HS850 - flip the boom closed, then hold down the button just until the light holds solid - IMMEDIATELY after it does flip the boom open and this should keep the light solid. Then on your cell/device search for bluetooth devices - you should be able to find it now. Passkey for most devices is 0000.

The fact that once you get the light to stay solid and you have to flip it open to keep that open communication...That was such an important element that so many step by step instructions on the internet did not mention. Thanks a bunch... now I won't get pulled over for talking on the cell phone....

Thank you so much, that was the key element that so many of us were struggling with... Cool now I won't get pulled over (for holding my cell phone to my ear...) at least for that...

You guys, come on. I just got this from my dad, tried to pair it after reading the first one had the same prob, but firgured out how to pair on the second shot. You hold the button until the light turns on, WHILE HOLDING IT you open the boom, then light light stays on. put your phone in blue tooth mode, search, and pair. Those of you with a pass key I can't help because mine does not ask for one, good luck tho!

i think im just going to smash it, my product might be defected for something because when i try to put it in a solid mode, it would just keep flashing, even on a full charge, i cant even turn it off, the only way the blue led would stop flashing is if i drained the battery by leaving it on, i closed the boom, held the multi function key for 6 seconds and the light still flashes, so then i held it for 30 seconds, still flashing, now 1 minute, still flashing, i cant get it in pairing, cheap ****, if i cant get it to work within this week, its gettin a hammer.

Thank you so much for the connection tip. I knew I had to hold the button down and get the blue light to come on, but I didn't know had to open the mouth piece to get it to connect. It worked the first time I tried. THANK YOU
