Question about Computers & Internet
I purchased a usb to serial cable about 3 years ago from radio shack. Now I am installing it onto a new laptop because my previous laptop was stolen. The old laptop was Windows XP and the cable worked fine. The new laptop is Windows Vista and it will not recognize the software. Help me...please!
XP & Vista require different drivers to run hardware devices.
Visit the Vista compatibility site to determine if your hardware is compatible, by clicking here,
or visit the manufacturer's website to see if there are updated drivers and firmware available for Vista that you can download and install.
Another possibility is to visit Windows Update and run a custom scan with the cable attached and see if you are offered a hardware update for your system that would make it work, but this seems unlikely in the case of a cable...
I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take a moment to kindly rate this post....thanks!
