Question about Dual XDMR7710 CD Player
I'm trying to wire in an aftermarket deck on a 1994 ford explorer. I bought a wiring harness for it. It came with 2 similar pieces in the package. one for power options and such and the other for all of the speakers. I have the power harness all wired in but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to wire in the other harness. The stock deck has an square shaped plug and I'm pretty sure that's where the speaker harness should be. the harness I bought will not fit into that plug. Nor can I find a base. I dont want to just cut the plug off and find out that I shouldnt have.
Sounds like you have the Premium Sound system. The main power plug is long and probably black, the other plug is square with a grey round cord coming out correct?
You can either take your power harness back and get the correct one ( a little more expensive) or run ALL 4 sets of speaker wires back to the right rear quarter panel. That is were the OEM amp is mounted and taking that panel out requires you to remove the top and bottom tailgate trims, a dozen screws, the seat belt D-ring and 4-5 plastic push clips that will probably snap off...:( Also, this will not make the OEM subwoofer work.
From 20 years experiance in this biz, save the time, spend the extra 30$ or so and just buy the correct connector. Check MetraOnline.com and search there.
