I am a Window Vista Home Premium User. When I was about to install Kaspersky IS 2009, I was asked to removed any anti-virus program. So I uninstalled Norton Anti Virus trial which was preinstalled in it by add/remove program. During the process, norton asked whether I want to turn on the wirewall or not and I choosed 'yes'.
After restarting my laptop, I can't connect to the internet. That time I haven't install Kaspersky IS 2009.
After installing it, I still cannot connect to the internet, I can't view anything via browser or update anything.
I was told that it is because of firewall. How to solve it?

    THANKS!

There could be some remnants of settings left behind by those programs. Go to the Control Panel (Start>Settings>Control Panel, or just Start>Control Panel) and double-click Internet Options.

Go to the Connections tab of that, then go down and click the LAN Settings button. Make sure everything is unchecked on this page.

I HAVE AN ACER LAPTOP RUNNING WINDOWS VISTA HOME EDITION WITH 3GBs OF RAM. WHEN I INSTALL KASPERSKY, IT TELLS ME THAT I NEED TO UNINSTALL MACAFEE WHICH I CAN'T FIND IN MY INSTALL/UNINSTALL PROGRAMS....

hi, remove the security center. then click start and go to your applications list and look for macaffee there. if it is listed click that and you'll get a list macaffee program components, including an un-install, use that. this should work. removing macaffee can be a real pain. as far as catching malware forget it, macaffee antivirus couldn't catch a cold. manufactures love to provide it on new computers and internet providers offer it free but it is real junk. now your kaspersky is a good program but it costs money and is far from perfect. i have been using AVG free since microsoft released XP back in 2001. like the name says it is free and has done it's job admirably for me and my clients. team up with good free antiadware like " IObit security 360" and your machine will be as well protected as your would be with most security system that have annual fees. try cnet's download.com to find your freeware.
hope this helped, aokcmpter

My AVG is conflicting with my installing Kaspersky.

you might not have uninstalled AVG .instead you could have deleted the AVG folder.
AVg components are still there in the registry.if you didnt uninstall it ,install AVG once more and uninstall it manually.
if its not working remove AVG components from registry
here are the instrucions:
To remove the AVG registry entries, open Registry Editor (Start-> Run-> Regedit). In the registry editor, navigate to the entries mentioned below,

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\AVG7Uninstall

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\AVG6INSTALL

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\AVG8Uninstall

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AVG\Avg8

Right click on these entries and then delete them. If you are not comfortable about deleting registry entries, you can use a free registry cleaner. If you are using a 64 bit machine, then these are the entries to be removed.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\AVG7Uninstall

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\AVG6INSTALL

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\AVG8Uninstall

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\AVG\Avg8

Once these entries are removed, Kaspersky installation will be completed normally. Alternatively you can also use the AVG cleaner or Kaspersky removal tool for AVG8.

When i install an internet security program like Kaspersky, or AVG. It makes windows xp home freeze constantly when in game or out. It is the only anti virus i have installed. I currently have Kaspersky...

AntiVirus software does not prevent malware or Spyware from infecting your system.

i would suggest scanning your PC with Malware Scanner from www.malwarebytes.com and also SpyBot S&D from http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download

and you might want to exempt the games folder from being scanned by Kaspersky or AVG as you might get sharing violations where the file being scanned is already in use by the game itself.

I am not able to install kaspersky security software into my system, it says you have to delete avg8, i tried everything till now, avg8 is not in my system. how to i install this kaspersky or uninstall...

Kaspersky tells you whether this is because at some point that was installed on the PC AVG8, but is unlikely to be removed either. I recommend you look for the installation of AVG8, install and then uninstall icon from the Add / Remove Programs control panel. This should eliminate all traces that may remain in the system of AVG.

After this reboot the PC and can install Kaspersky without any problem.

Problem with skype and kaspersky

Pretty simply, your Antivirus is blocking Skype from acessing the internet. Personally, I'd uninstall it and use Avast!
Anitvirus, which is free for home users. I use Avast! and Skype together and have had no conflicts. (www.avast.com)
You might also be able to find a whitelist somewhere in Kaspersky;'s preferences, but I''m not familliar with it and cannot tell you where.

Uninstall of software

Sounds like you did not do things in the correct order or you did not reboot between the AVG uninstall and the Kapersky install, so that it looked like AVG was still loaded.

Since Kapersky is not installed, the best way to proceed is to start from a fresh reboot, download and re-install the AVG free edition to get the registry entries corrected. Don't bother with updates as it is coming back out again. Reboot and uninstall AVG. Reboot again and verify AVG is gone before attempting to install the Kapersky.

AVG free can be downloaded from free.grisoft.com assuming you mean the 8.0 version, not 7.5, otherwise try downloading from www.filehippo.com and select the older version.

Regarding installation of kaspersky

Hi,

It means there are some applications that were not compatible.

It will list the incompatible softwares when after you select to install.

Uninstall them properly.

You have to remove using proper uninstallation tool.

Like even deleting the traces from the registry.

After this you wont be having any problems.

Good Luck.
