Question about Computers & Internet

Just won't work on Vista

I brought a Microsoft Lifecam VX-700 the other day and I doesn't seem to work on Vista. There were drivers inside the brand new box and when my system searches for drivers it cannot find them on either my computer or the internet. Have looked on the Microsoft Driver site and there doesn't seem to be any support or drivers for this particular model. Have tested on XP O/S system and is seems to work somewhat. Is there anything that I haven't tried that might fix this or does it just not like vista.

Just editing the above comment "There were no drivers inside the brand new box" :).

On the box under system requirements it says "Windows Vista" so it should be compatible, but that does not mean it is. Have looked on both Microsoft.com and thishttp://www.microsoft.com/windows/compati... but to no avail as it seems the product has disappeared as a Microsoft supported product.

BTW I'm a Tech guy for the company I work for so I have tried all possibilities. Look for some who can program a computer to dance to figure out this one, or I will take the product back to the store as it is pretty redundant and no use if it will not work.

Yeah I should have known better than to trust Microsoft :P. Back to the store it goes and thanks for your input.

Check the box for the "works with Vista" logo or the system requirements. if vista's not mentioned there's a good chance it wont work. Sometimes but not always you can find a updated driver at the support link or website specific to that model.

If you are still within your return period I would suggest to return even if you do find a solution to just aviod future issue's.

Companies such as logitech have a nice selection of web camera's and great support and drivers as well as updates when necessary.

Driver for lifecam vx1000

I assume since you mention ' new compuer ' that you are talking about a Vista computer. It should make no difference as the site I am about to send you to mentions Vista and XP o/s drivers for your webcam.
Try this site and I'm sorry for the delay, I don't check my messages nearly as much as I should.
