I have a E6400 that was freezing up with candy crush. Tried everything. Would clear cache/cookies and it would be fine if I didn't play games...but I did and it went ZAP and will not turn on,

Although I can't tell you how to get your laptop back up and running I can advice you of how to try to get the files from your old hard drive. This will involve small screwdrivers as you have to get your hard disk out of your Dell. There's a guide at Once your hard disk is out you can fit it into an external hard disk caddy and attach it, via usb, to another computer. Caddies are available for around $20 from many electronics stores both on the street and online.

Application will not run without original disk space shuttle.

I suggest you contact/email the games supplier and explain the problem or take it back to the shop where you bought it and tell them your problem.

Prism 3d has stopped working when i load wild tangent game - 18 wheels of steel haulin-

There's a posible software compatibility issue between Prism 3d and the wild game.

1. Completely uninstall the prism 3D (make sure that you have the installer disk)
2. Completely uninstall wild tanget game.
3. Install the wild tangent game before the Prism 3D.
If still the same you need to choose the priority software for you.

install the game on diferent drive if you can.

CD drive opens on its own

I can propose a workaround, if it is hardware related. Burn an image from the CD and Load it in a program like Daemon Tools. You can change the letter of the virtual CD drive via My Computer > Manage > Disk Management. But if you have the problem with only this game, it is probably the game itself. Just save more frequently.

My cds will start to 'run' on disk drive but it will not run or open/load them so that i can install or play sims or football manager ect

Some CDs do not autostart. it depends on how they are setup.
If you have a games CD and it doesn't autostart then click on My Computer and then the CD drive (your could be the D drive) and double click on the Setup or Install file. The program should then install on your computer.

Fishdom won't play on my Acer Aspire One

Ensure you are installing the game to your 160 GB HDD instead of an SD card or other location. Also you may want to go to the My Computer icon and ensure you have enough space to install the full game on your C: drive. All else fails reinstall.

The pc has...
Too many processes and services running, most of them automatically loading when windows starts. To give you an idea of that, Start - Run - msconfig - gives you areas to check, processes as well as services that are running at Windows Startup. If in doubt on what a service or program is coming from in there, google really helps. I can spend an hour going thru this and say do a disc defrag and disk cleanup from Accessories - System Tools and disable non-essential services, but instead I'll jump to the real issue. Operating system degradation over time.

It sounds like you're a hardcore pc user (gamer w00t !) any hardcore pc user should once a year back up their data, format their hard drive, then re-install Windows. I'd recommend doing that, re-install your games and apps, anti-virus etc, put it EXACTLY the way you want, apply all your microsoft updates, then use ms config to shave down services and processes that you do not consider mandatory, then defrag your drive. Now lets go one better. Once that is done use Norton Ghost to image your drive. Restore your hard drive from the image twice a year and your pc will fly like a new plane. Also I'm not sure what you use for anti-virus software, but some can be a real resource hog. Choose one that uses little resources.

Happy gaming :)
