Question about Gateway MX6448 Notebook

Laptop turns off randomly

Every so often while I am doing something on the computer it will just shut off. If I try to turn it back on right away it will start to load up and then turn back off while it is loading. After a few minutes or so I can turn it back on and it will work again for a while. Is there anything I can do to fix it

Is it getting very hot on the bottom?
You could try using some canned or compressed air to blow out some dust. Also laptop cooling pads work great.

Try scanning your computer with radarsync to know which drivers are out-of-date. It has something to do with the device drivers for sure. Update the drivers using RadarSync.

If it still not going to fix the problem then check if there's a sign of overheating after it shuts down. You might want to get it opened by a technician so that he or she can clean the air passages and fans inside your computer.

Shuts down

Hi,

This is a typical symptom of a failing power supply. Replace your power supply and see if the problem still persists.

Please notify me should you need any further assistance.

Once opened, the computer easily shuts down and cannot re open again

If the computer is turning on and shutting off right away then the chances are good that you are having a battery problem. Try popping the battery out of the back of the computer then putting it back in again.
If this fixes nothing try to return the battery and see if a new battery fixes your problem.

HELP!!! I was on my computer last night and all of a sudden the screen went black and I could hear sounds in the background, so I shut it down and when I started it back up, I can see the line where it...

Try to boot in safemode. Turn off the laptop and keep tapping F8 upon turning ON, the advance boot option will come out. Select the Safemode option just the regular one. Wait until loaded on safemode.
Try to back up your files under safemode. Your laptop is already infected with virus and the OS is starting to get corrupted. After backing up the files...you need to do the system recovery to completely delete the virus. The recovery instruction is on the disc case so follow steps. In case you don't know here's the instruction. Insert disc 1 and shutdown the laptop, hold C upon turning ON, let go of C when Toshiba screen comes out, always select the first option, like to select Toshiba recovery wizard. You don't really have to change anything because it's all set to defaults, all you need is to hit next all the time...when you see, "initializing the partition please wait" then that is the start.

Hope it works

My laptop keeps shutting down at random times. I

Computers may not be smarter than people, but if they’re designed properly, they will shut themselves down before overheating to the extent that they do themselves damage.

If the smart person keeps turning the notebook back on and figures out a way to foil the protection, the laptop is probably doomed. Once a laptop shuts down for thermal event protection, it may refuse to power back up for a fixed period of time, five or ten minutes, or it may begin to boot and shut down immediately as soon as it boots to the point that it can figure out that its too hot.

The over-temperature protection is generally a BIOS rather than an operating system function, so one sign of an overheated laptop is one that shuts itself down while you’re using it and then refuses to boot as far as the operating system unless you leave it alone for an hour or so to cool down.

Unless you’ve been working in a very unfriendly environment, high temperatures, direct sunlight, etc, you should take even a single overheating shutdown as a warning to back up your data at the first opportunity and to give the cooling system a serious cleaning.
Good luck

Computer will turn on but wont stay on

Most likely your power supply is faulty. You can test it with a voltmeter to determine if this is the cause or if it's the motherboard.

Replaced spark plugs and still having issues

Well tell way your describing the symptoms I'd say it is related to your battery and or starter. If I misunderstood and the vehicle turns over fine, just takes repeated try's to get it to start then I would then suggest to look at the ignition switch. The electrical connections may be worn out.
