Question about Canon imageCLASS MF6530 Monochrome Laser Copier/Printer
Our Canon Imageclass MF6530 is used only for copies. Recently it had an error light flashing and said toner low, prepare new toner. We bought it a year ago, so it seemed like it was about time. I got an new toner cartidge and the insturctions for installing it said if you shake the old toner cartridge and put it back in, you could get 40-50 more copies from it. I did so, and printed 50 more copies perfectly, then the toner low light came back on, so I put in the new toner cartridge. Now the error light is still flashing and it still says toner low, prepare new toner. I have pressed reset, turned it off, unplugged it overnight, removed the toner cartridge and put it back in again, removed it, shaken it and put it back in again and still nothing. I don't know what else to try.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

There are two contact on the right wall off the printer cartridge chamber area. They can get pushed in causing the printer cartridge to not read correctly. Take a small Flathead screwdriver and bend them up so the cartridge ink level can be read.

SOURCE: Printing envelopes
You will probably have to change your paper settings on the printer itself to proceed without an error. In the additional settings>Paper Size> change it from Ltr to Envelope.

Reason : the shutter of the laser is not opened by the cartridge. (I had same problem, and solved it)
Open the door and remove the toner. look inside and you will see in the upper part a rectangular window in the metal bar. This window is shut by a metal plate behind when the door is open. Try to raise it with a knife. This is the problem. Now, this shutter is here only for legal reasons (security to prevent the laser beam going out when door open, but when the door is opened the power is shut so...). Cut a piece of plastic just the width of the opening, fold it at angle in the form or an L, then place it on the left side of the opening, so that the shutter can no longer go down. A piece of scotch to fix it in place and you are done.
Now, if it works and you are grateful, I am interested in empty cartridges. If you have some tell me. Thanks.
