Question about Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-S40 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Bad focus on half of pictures taken

About half the pictures I take with my camera are out of focus. This includes indoor and outdoor shots. I lost the owners manual and i cannot find any autofocus settings to change on the camera. On the LCD screen, the majority of them appear to be in focus, with some obviously out of focus on the LCD. When uploaded to the PC, half of them are slightly to moderately out of focus. Any ideas? Thanks?

Got our Lumix DMC-FZ5 in 2006, and every picture we have ever taken inside is blurred, no matter what we do with shutter speed, aperature setting and flash. Also tried using the Party scene, as well as...

Are you pressing the shutter button half-way and allowing the camera to lock in the focus (it will beep) before pressing the rest of the way? Have you tried setting the camera on a firm surface or a tripod and fired off a few shots to see if they are better?

Pictures are blurry.

Try pressing the shutter button half way to let it focus before you shoot. You also may want to make sure the camera is in auto mode and not set to any particular setting.

Quality

This may be noise due to picture(s) taken indoors, or out, in low light. This camera is not the best in low light and the flash is only good to about 12 ft.

TZ stands for Travel Zoom, meaning for mainly Travel outdoor senery shots where large Zoom is also handy. Read manual for lower light indoor/night shots.

SONY DSC-W50 Focus issues

Hi rmodel

If you had the lens replaced the repair agency is supposed to adjust what is referred to as the Back Flange adjustment. Without getting to technical it is the reference point that your camera needs to focus on objects at different distances.

The problem you are referring to is typical of a faulty adjustment or an adjustment never being made for the new lens.

Take it back, let them fix it.

P.S . Please just first check that the lens is clean, a finger print on the lens opening could also give you this type of problem.

Best of luck
Dawiem
