Gets hot fast and wont get up to speed. Rplcd Field and Brushes

I recently replaced the field and brushes in my DeWalt DW402 Type6 angle grinder and now when plugged in and the switch activated it sounds like it has a hammer inside and the motor gets hot quickly. The grinder will never get up to speed either. When I first took it apart the field had been extremly hot and melted some of the plastic around it. The Armature turns freely. Any help?

First question did your field have screws to hold it into the housing and if so did you replace them. Also some fields need to be installed with either a top or bottom. Make sure that the wires are run correctly and the tool is turning in the right direction. Check these and then email me back and we will dig into it deeper.

If the field has gotten that hot to melt it , it sound like it needs to be replace as well. The heating is probably due to a short in the field.

What could be the reason for my DeWalt dwe4011 angle grinder to smoke when turned on? No disk and brushes appear to be in good shape

The suppression capacitor by the switch or there was a problem with the housing of the electric field that was overheat and swollen and the armature running against the swollen plastic or by arcing sparkover by a defect collector.
The machine should get very hot , by only a supression capacitor remove it and leaf it out ,not neccesary for function its only for radio interference suppression on the mains.

I overheated my Makita 9557PB angle grinder. I replaced the brushes. Bearings seem ok: the motor assembly turns freely, smoothly, and quietly. The running motor is slow, with a loud "grinding" sound.

Measure the value difference in Ohm between the carbon brushes on the armature there are some collectors in the commutator give an other ohm value if compared to other collectors in the comutator of the armature . if measure turn the blad very slow so the collectros can be positioned to measure the ohm difference. range to measure 0-200ohm on ohmmeter.
If only one brush made trouble ( much more sparking ) then the electric field is not in ohm value balance, control always if there are slide contacts used they are solid. on the field. Measure the difference. between the 2 field coils of the electric field . if its also different replace allways the field and the armature if thats also have problems (BUT DON,T FORGET to order a new drive gear for the armature and new brushes. !!!

Bosch Table saw sparking and lacking power.

Forgive me as I'm not too educated on the configuration of this saw but when I heard you mention armature replacement it made me think....are there armature brushes that are worn out. I know a lot of my angle grinders spark, get real hot, and smells like burnt plastic when brushes are worn out. Are there brushes on this saw? Just a thought.

Is a grinder worth repairing when you can smell the motor? what parts would you expect to have to replace?

If the only part that's causing the burning smell is the brushes, yes it's worth fixing.
If it's overheating because the bearings are bad, yes it's worth fixing.
If the armature and/or field is overheated and damaged then you're better off getting a new one.

I have a dewalt angle grinder 4'' that carbon are sparking and stator suddenly hot whats the problem

could be worn brushes a shorted armature or field issue. check the brushes first and the commutator would need to be cleaned to seat the new ones. that is the cheapest route.

My makita angle grinder is making a crackling sound I replaced the brushes, but it is still making the same sound

OK one of a couple things the brushes night need seated with a stone for this purpose or the armature or field is bad. Remove the brushes and look at the commutator thru the tube and see if there is a bar or 2 that has discoloration or is raised. Let me know if I can help further.

Unplug tool and then remove the brush caps and brushes, at the front of the tool are 4 screws that need to be removed after removing them you might have to pry the gearcase from the motor housing and then it should just pull out if there is no problems with the field having been hot and melted. Let me know if you need further assistance

Can't get grinder to turn on. Checked brushes, cord, trigger/switch. Any suggestions?

Did you check continuity to the field/brush holders. They have a garter spring that sometimes became overheated and broke. It seems like you have done everything else. Let me know
