Try rebooting and hold the F8 key, this will bring up a prompt for you to be able to choose safe mode. enter safemode and try a system restore to an earlier time.

I was using this computer until about an hour ago. Now it asks for a password and won't unlock the screen.

I called the product's support services, and was instructed on how to unlock, and boot up my eMac G4 1.0, OS X version without a startup disk. There are also several safe, and legal sites online that can assist you, with your current issue, hotspot wifi installing plus many other questions, and needs. Hope this info has been helpful in any way, and thank's for asking !

Reset password admin

I could suggest you search for this under "Apple password reset" since I've written the solution several times in the last month, but for you, I'll do it again:
You need to find Disk 1 of the operating system install disk set. The install disk set doesn't need to be the one that came with the computer, so long as it is OS 10.2 to OS 10.5 (PPC). However, some install disks are not compatible with the resolution setting of the graphics chip in some eMacs, so you may have difficulty reading the display.
The reset procedure is as follows: Turn on the eMac, open the optical (CD or DVD) drive and place Disk 1 in it, then close the drive. Restart the eMac. As soon as the startup chime sounds, immediately hold down the option key and continue to hold it until a disk icon appears on the screen. Wait until the optical disk icon also shows up. Click on the optical disk icon, then click the arrow button. This will boot up the computer to the install disk.
When the computer boots up to the install program, DO NOT DO ANYTHING IN THE INSTALL PROGRAM. Look in the Apple menu for the Reset password... item. You should see a selector menu for the account(s) on the computer. Select the administrator account and enter the new password (it can be left blank if you know nobody else will ever mess with your computer). Confirm the password, then quit and restart without holding down any keys.
The computer should restart normally and you can log in to the administrator account with the new password. So long as you remember the new password, you can change it at any time using the "Accounts" pane in System Preferences.

Cant download flash to emac

The eMac uses a G4 processor, and is limited to Mac OS 10.5.x. The most recent version of Flash Player that will run on it is Flash Player 10.1 (if you are running OS 10.4 or later), or Flash Player 9.0.280 if you are still running OS 10.3.
Note that not all web content will work these older versions - in particular, Facebook video inserts will incorrectly claim you don't even have Flash installed instead of playing!

I have emac 10.2.8 with memory 640mb processor 700MHz power pc G4 . I would like to know what safari version is right one for my computer and where can i get that. plz help me.

Hi SardaIn order to upgrade your Safari you need to upgrade your OS to 10.4.11 at least.Try ebay for a copy. Once you have done that Software Update will automatically offer to update Safari to the latest version applicable.
It's not the machine - it's the OS that matters.

S3842 uk FREEZES ON BOOT every time have to switch off. on 3rd or 4th attempt works fine. any new software that requires reboot - it does this without a problem. started 2 months ago with original Vista...

Upgrades are usually troublesome as they leave bits of the old OS in odd places. It is best to do a clean install.
Choose your OS, either Vista or Win7. XP will not work!
Always download the latest drivers for the OS you are using from hp.com or it will keep hanging and be unreliable.
Hope this helps.

How can i reset an apple emac 1955 back to factory have to much personal use and wanna give it to my son

Find the original gray optical disks that came with the machine. (Sorry, I know this step will lose 90% of owners already, but you're supposed to keep those.) Failing that, find the installation DVD for the version of Mac OS X you upgraded it to most recently (but you'll lose the software "extras" that may have come with the machine).
Boot from the DVD by holding down the C key at boot. Run through the initial installer screens until getting to the one where you choose whether you want to upgrade (which will probably be grayed out), archive and install, or erase and install. Choose erase and install. Then just let the installer fly. When it is done, you will have clean factory software on the machine.

MAC G4 won't boot - Blue screen appears

Hi Sorry to hear you are having troubles,You will need a firewire 400 cableOK, first thing you must do is reboot the eMac in TARGET mode, this means it will be recognized as an external disk. To get the eMac in TARGET mode, you must be sure the eMac is turned OFF and has a functioning keyboard connected.Power on the eMac and very very rapidly press the ( T ) key on the keyboard, be sure the caps lock button is not pressed. If all goes well, you will see the firewire logo appear larger than life on the screen.( If you are unable to get into TARGET mode, it is highly probable that the mother board of the internal hard drive is damaged and preventing the eMac from entering TARGET mode, sorry, that's the end of the line..)Once you enter TARGET mode on the eMac, connect the firewire cable to your G4 PowerBook, you can do this either while it is running or when it is off and then turn it on.
You should see the volume of your eMac internal hard drive appear on the PowerBook desktop...sometimes you need to open Disk Utilities and repair or mount the drive manually. If this all works well, copy the required files directly to your PowerBook...After that, power off both machines, disconnect them and reboot the eMac using a CD or DVD to reformat and reinstall a new system.

Emac stalls on the OS X start-up

Start here...   Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck  Mac OS X: How to start up in single-user or verbose mode  If that doesn't help, try booting into Safe Mode and see what happens, if it comes up hopefully another restart may solve, if not, you can at least use this as a starting point to try and resolve. Safe Mode will allow you to get around, surf, etc...   What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode?   Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode
If Safe Mode comes up alright, I would install AppleJack, excellent troubleshooting article can be found here... Troubleshooting Tools: AppleJack  Another excellent free tool for performing maintenance is Onyx (be sure to download the right version for your system). Install the package, then run it, it will check your drive and the structure, after this, click on the automation tab and check on everything for Maintenance, Clear Cache, Cleaning, and check on Reset -> LaunchServices database and Mail's Envelope Index. When it completes, restart. Repeat any time something seems flaky, if not try to run at least once a month.
