Question about LG Washing Machines

Lg wm2010cw Washer Drum Banging and Vibrating

I bought the washer/dryer pair. I have two people in my home and I'm not doing wash every night. So far the dryer has worked well but after 2 months of use, and only during the spin cycle, the drum inside the washer started going crazy and banging up against the glass part of the door. No error codes at all on display. I called LG and they told me it was the ball sensor in my unit. Repair person came out and discovered through another call to LG that my unit doesn't even have a ball sensor. After that and another tech call, I was told by LG it was the Hall sensor. Not right at all. Now I am told by LG it is the shock absorbers. They will be replaced soon and we will see what happens. Cleans clothes well but doesn't seem dependable. After 2 months of use this machine should not need to have anything replaced.. LG Techs don't seem to know what they are talking about at all. Does that sound right? Did anyone else have this problem?

This model is also sold at Best Buy not just Home Depot. Does anyone have some sort of idea why this is happening?

I was told it was a Home Depot exclusive. I stand corrected, thank you.

Why is this? Because the big chains carry a lot of clout with the manufacturer's and want exclusive products. You can easily guarantee the lowest price if no one else has the exact same model. Sears has been doing this for years, and Home Depot has done this, and gotten exclusive rights for the first 6 months on other appliance model new introductions in the past. Maybe Best Buy and Home Depot will have to fix it.......Oh wait,...... they don't do service.

(just give you an 800 number to call) Will the consumer ever change their buying habits to purchase from service providing dealers for their purchases? Not likely. (even though to sell over the big box competition, most have to be competitive on price and are far superior on product knowledge, delivery speed, installation, and after the sale help when needed.)

I have the LG washer WM2010CW and it started stinking soon after I purchased it. When I called LG I was told it is normal for front loaders to smell. I am allergic to mold and am on allergy shots and the smell is getting worse. They send somebody out today to look at it and the man was surprised after he opened the door because the machine looks brand new that it smells so bad. He said he has never experienced a smell llike that before. He called the tech support and he was told to order a new drum and gasket. The rubber seal shows no mold either. I am just hoping that replacing the drum will help. I thought for sure they would replace the machine and stand behind their product especially since I tried everything running the cleaning cycle with white vinegar another time with bleach, baking soda TIde machine cleaner etc. This machine has a design flaw and LG does not admit to it. I grew up in Germany and all we have is front loaders, so I know to leave the door open for a day or so until it is dry. My next washer will be a Bosch! I do not recommend to buy this lemon! If front loader would be known to smell nobody would buy them so don't believe this excuse!

Transmission bearing has failed. The transmission has to be replaced as a unit.
The transmissions are relatively inexpensive (around 150 to 175 dollars) I have replaced 3
of these and they are rather difficult.

How do i tighten the drum weights on my hotpoint

Remove rear cover, and you will see the concrete weight at the bottom, sometimes the securing nuts work loose, or break off.
There is also a concete weight in the top of the washer as well,so check this as well

Loud banging

Several possibilities for noise. check concrete balance wieghts at top and bottom of washer, make sure they are not loose.
Check drum restraint spring(s) are not broken.
Check suspension legs for wear.
Check for loose motor fixings.
Finally, remove drum belt, and spin drum by hand, tjhere should be noise from bearings, if it feels rough or is rumbling , then main bearings have failed.
