either wait til the unit is out of the heat or use a bit more pressure to push the button doen firmly

the map60 range has the same issue with the power on/off buttons
there is no replacement parts as its built into the case

Go to Garmin website Updates & Downloads, Training Centre for Windows software version 3.4.1, click on download.

I previously deleted all saved couses on Training Centre, but don't know if this is relevant.

SOURCE: Forerunner 305 won't charge

Had the same problem. Turned out I only *thought* it was the cradle and/or cable being finicky. Actually, the problem was one of the four contact points on the back of the 305 had oxidized and if all 4 don't make good contact with the cradle, it won't charge. Apparently, manipulating the cable only coincidentally helped, if/when it did help, perhaps by subtly shifting the contact point so that a less oxidized part made contact.
Anyway, rubbing the contact points with a pencil eraser cleans them enough to get a good charge. I've had to break out the eraser every 2-4 weeks.

Will it start up whilst in the cradle, charging?

Mine did, but will not charge up off the cradle. Turned out to be a duff battery/connections due to water getting into the device!

SOURCE: My Garmin forerunner 305 will not turn on.

I have had the same problem. To fix it, I simultaneously hold down the "mode" and "reset" buttons for about 10 seconds. After releasing the buttons I power it up as normal. This has worked both times it has happened, and I got this fix from the Garmin website. My mileage totals are still in the history.

My Garmin Forerunner 305 quit working at mile 15-ish during my 26.2-mile journey. There was a faint sound but the screen was blank. It doesn't seem to charge. I tried soft reboot by pressing on the MODE...

Try hard reset.

Hold mode + start for ten seconds (device off beforehand). Keep holding then pulse push lap/reset button.

You get a screen asking to return to default settings. You will loose all your data, but device should work then

The top right side button will not scroll up on my garmin forerunner 305 therefore i cannot get to certain things the button is just not working

Hi,

Is it still within warranty? This is a fault that needs to be sorted by Garmin as the unit is waterproof and needs to be tested..

If the warranty is up your local Garmin dealer should still be able to facilitate the return for you..

My garmin 305

Press and hold the mode and lap buttons for 10 seconds, then release. Most of the time, that will fix it. Garmin has a sort of sleep mode programmed in for certain situations. If that doesn't work, I have had wonderful success with Garmin tech support.

My Forerunner 305 was working when I ran today.  I just went to download and the 305 is completely dead.  No display when pressing 'on', and none in charging deck. What do you recommend? Thank you.

Press the reset and mode button simutaneously to reset watch

...then press the mode and start button at the same time for several seconds to start the watch up
