Question about Nikon D70 Body Only Digital Camera

Shutter locked on my D70

There is a reading of "ee" on the little screen above the shutter and I know it must be related...but can't get rid of it.

Speedlight SB-600 TTL Flash: When I set my SB600 (mounted on D70) to TTL or TTL...

the sync speed for the sb-600 is onlt 1/200 on most cameras i think so if your shutter is faster then that then all you will see is black/ the curtans behind the shutter.

basicly just try again with a slower shutter speed

You don't give much info but I'll assume you have a Nikon D70 'cos that's where you posted your question...1. Battery needs to be charged first. Get a cheap EN-EL3 battery and charger from eBay if you need these. 2. Put a Compact Flash (CF) card in. The camera locks the shutter if there is no card (to avoid the embarrassment of shooting all day and losing your images). CF cards themselves do not have locks. 3. If you just want to test the camera with no card you can enable this in one of the camera settings menus. Press the "Menu" button on the back, navigate to the pencil icon and find item 6 (I think). It is called "NO CF CARD" and the options are: LOCK or RELEASE shutter. 4. Of course you do know you need to turn the camera on first...? Turn the little black rotary button/ring around the silver shutter release button.

D70 Shutter Stuck

I'm afraid the camera has suffered "shutter death". After a certain number of clicks (usually 30.000-70.000, but it could be as little as 5000 or as much as 150.000), the shutter just gives up the ghost. It's fixable, but expensive.

D70 mirror lock up

I'm looking for the source of this same problem. I was able to get my d70 unstuck by:
1. Set to full manual mode.
2. In the menus set mirror lock up to yes and then press shutter release.
3. Turn camera off and then back on

Hope this helps you!

Failed shutter release

If you decide to open your camera, here's a pictorial disassembly. Don't go any further than popping the top off to examine components in the vicinity of the shutter button. Look for anyhting different than what's showing in the picture. Remember that you can be creative with a little bit of glue, and a small piece of scrap plastic:

And keep in mind there's a potential for electrical shock. Read this first before you turn any screws:

Nikon D70 - err - won't take picture

Today I was taking photos and the camera quit...the top display says err. The book says release shutter, but I push the shutter and it does nothing but make a little click and the err stays. I took the lens off, and the camera does look like the shutter is open or something.
