My internet explorer is not working. The system shows that I am connected to the internet but when I connect I receive a message that reads "cannot display web page. I restored my system to a date that had previously work and still have the problem. I am using xp and this problem is accuring on my laptop which is a wireless connection. I use comcast as my provider and the modem is connected to my desktop. Thanking you in advance! Laveda

Good afternoon Laveda,

I have two fixes for you to try,

1. Right click the wireless icon in your task tray (bottom right of the screen). Select REPAIR from the pop up list. The wizard will run through it and you will hit finish or close at the end. Try Internet Explorer.

If that doesn't work...

2. Open Internet Explorer. From the File menu, Select Tools. Select Internet Options from the bottom of the drop down list. Select the Connections tab across the top. Click the LAN Settings button torwards the bottom. Make sure that "Automatically Detect Settings" is checked and nothing else. Close Internet Explorer, reopen Voila.

First of all am guessing you mean your router otherwise if your modem was connected directly to your desktop there would be no more connections left to connect your laptop or anything else to.

second of all disable system restore and then make sure you have IE 6 if you have IE 7 or ie 8 then un install that until you get back to ie 6 and then get vb6 runtime files ( download and install those ) and then use ie fix

That shoudl repair ie 6 ( you will need your xp disc or your operating system disc )

Once done you should then be able to re install ie 7 or ie 8 ( which ever you use )

I would suggest using firefox though and ensuring that your wireless connection is actually connected post back for further help

I cant access facebook, INTERNET displays that 'web page cannot be displayed'


There are many reasons that Internet Explorer could be encountering this issue. Some examples are connectivity to your ISP, a firewall blocking your connection, or your networking device not functioning properly. Here are some things that you can try:
Method 1: Run the Network Diagnostics tool in Internet Explorer
1. Start Internet Explorer, and then try to access the Web page that is displaying the error message.

    • It was unable to find a problem.

make sure you selected "direct connection to the internet" inside internet connection settings. Go to internet explorer options, by right clicking over the icon, and check inside connection tab. This problem is due to the fact that you have some proxy settings on.

I would like to down load oulook express to do my e mails on my note boo I am 70 years old and a little slow with some of these things, I am trying to link this with my desk top up stairs

In non-technical terms, it is a program that lets you send and receive emails from your computer. It is one of the most popular email clients in the world simply because it comes free with Internet Explorer (and the Windows operating system). What does Outlook Express actually do? Outlook Express allows you send and receive emails from your computer. How is Outlook Express different from an online email service? The difference between Outlook Express and an online email service such as GMail, Hotmail, Yahoo! etc. is that it lets you browse, read and compose emails from your computer even when you are not connected to the net. To download emails, you do need to connect to the Internet. Email messages are actually stored on your system, so, you can still read the emails you have received and sent in the past. An online email service works ONLY when you are connected to the net.
Another great feature of Outlook Express (and any other email client worth its salt), is that it lets you read and write emails at your leisure. Let us say you are traveling from Philadelphia to Chicago. You download all your emails via Outlook Express in Philadelphia and then board the flight to Chicago. Now when you open your laptop on the plane and start Outlook Express, you can not only read emails but also write replies and compose new emails. Outlook Express will store all these replies and new emails on your system. Now when you arrive at Chicago, connect to the Internet and open Outlook Express, the program will send the stored email messages.
Outlook Express also lets you segregate email messages into folders. For example, all new emails are stored in the Inbox folder, the emails which you have sent to people will be stored in the Sent Items folder and any emails that have yet to be sent are stored in the Outbox folder. In addition to these three folders, Outlook Express has two more folders. These are the Drafts and Deleted Items folders. The Drafts folder stores email messages that you have composed and saved while the Deleted Items folder contains all the deleted emails. [Note: in order to completely delete the emails from your system you need to empty the Deleted Items folder.]
You can also create folders inside the Inbox folder to further segregate email messages.
FYI, you can configure Outlook Express to segregate incoming email into different folders using rules and filters. For example, potential spam can be junked directly into the Deleted Items folder.
What kind of email accounts can I use in Outlook Express? Outlook Express can be used for any POP3 or IMAP email account. POP3, which stands for Post Office Protocol 3, is a set of rules with which one accesses and downloads emails. IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) is a set of rules with which emails are assessed.
If you have a web site hosted on a server, most likely the hosting package would come with a few POP3 email accounts. Thus, yourname@yourdomain.com would most likely be a POP3 email.
Can I receive emails from online email services in Outlook Express? Online email services such as Gmail provide free POP3 access to the email account; you should read configure Gmail account on Outlook Express if you want step-by-step instructions on how to do that. Hotmail used to have this feature but it has since discontinued it. Other popular online emails services might charge a small fee for POP3 access.

The text read pane seems to be invisible, like wh on wh, but text settings don't show this. Receive can not read sender's message unless they click in box and select all to reverse the background, text...


This is cause by some plugin error.
may be you can not see messages even after reinstalling yahoo messenger.
so...here is the easy way to solve this problem.

1- create a "NEW USER ACCOUNT" from 'control panel>user account for yourself and restart your computer.
2- login to the new user account and go to control panel> user accounts, and then delete ur old user account ( u may want to save your personal folder and files when prompt)( if you want to save your internet explorer favourites , do it manually )
3- just connect your internet and enjoy yahoo messenger.

try to ping www.google.com , if no reply then there is problem in your broadband configuration.
if you are getting reply like this then your internet explorer is corrupt3c1a5ad.jpg
Your internet explorer is corrupted. then change with firebox for testing. Afterwards you may reinstall internet explorer for normal use

I cannot connect thru yahoo messenger yet I can connnect thru Mozilla Firefox, I also cannot connect to MSN Explorer- I could not get Expert Assistance here says I am not connected to internet thru Internet Explorer But my internet connection is fine thru Mozilla????????-
