Question about Toshiba Satellite A40-S161 Notebook
My laptop is running Windows XP Pro SP3 and acts like the spacebar has been depressed. I can't get it to stop. Occasionally when I go to boot up it gives me a screen saying the Hardware profile is corrupt though I only have one profile to choose from. I do not have a recovery disk as this was a second hand laptop. Could it be a virus or should I just write the thing off completely? I would prefer to fix it as I am unable to afford another one at this time.
It is most likely not software that is the issue. It is possible that a virus could have done this. In that case you will need to have the laptop thoroughly scanned and cleaned for virus/spyware, etc.. If the problem presists. More than likely it is the hardware. In that case you will simply need to replace the keyboard. You should be able to purchase a replacement keyboard from the manufacturers support page on their website.
