Re: Cant get it to work

Your problem may be a driver problem so try this first
1. you need to uninstall the device from device manager first, go into device manager, find the network adapter and right click on it to uninstall,
2. then deattached the component,
3. install the driver from the manufacturer website (driver page), and the follow the instructions to
4. attach the device again.

hope that hellps

Have you selected the correct form of security eg wpa or wep, it should be wpa with 2 wire i think, and also the type of network, eg shared or open and ensure you have the correct upper or lower case entries.

I'm afraid your only option is to get the drivers one way or the other before you can connect to the internet or the network.

What I recommend is simply downloading the drivers from another computer that has access to the internet and transfering the driver package with a USB key or an other portable storage device.

Installation for wireless g cards w/out CCD drives

I'm just taking a stab at this because you didn't mention which model of toughbook you have but if it is old enough that it does not have an ethernet port, I'm betting it has a dialup modem.

Check out this link and find a provider in your area. It will be very slow but it should allow you to connect to the linksys website to download the driver.

or maybe you know somebody and can borrow their account.

I need help installing my 2wire wireless adapter card.

I used this one:

This document describes the procedure to install driver for the 2Wire Wireless USB Adapter under Microsoft Windows, and to run a wireless configuration program to configure your 2Wire Wireless USB Adapter to work with a 2Wire HomePortal or OfficePortal wireless gateway. These drivers work under Microsoft Windows 98SE, ME, 2000, and XP.

STEP 1 - Driver Installation
1. Make sure your 2Wire Wireless USB Adapter has not been connected to your computer USB port.
2. Double-click on the file to run WinZip Self-Extractor. The driver installation files will be placed in your hard disk in the C:\TWWUSB_TEMP directory
3. Connect your 2Wire Wireless USB Adapter to an available USB port in your computer. Windows Found New Hardware Wizard will startup.
4. Select the option to search for driver in specific location. Specify C:\TWWGUSB_TEMP as the location of driver.
5. Follow on-screen instruction to finish driver installation.

STEP 2 - Wireless Configuration
1. Run the program WirelessCfg.exe in the directory C:\TWWGUSB_TEMP. You can do so by clicking on the Windows Start button and select Run. The Windows Start button is typically at the lower left corner of the screen. Type in C:\TWWGUSB_TEMP\WirelessCfg.exe to launch the program.
2. Follow on-screen instruction to configure your wireless setting. Enter the serial number and encryption key as they are printed on the bottom of your 2Wire wireless gateway.

I installed my EUB-362 yesterday. I did install from the supplied CD AND the internet. When I saw that the supplied CD did not include drivers for Vista, I stopped there and then and connected to the internet with my other USB WiFi adapter. I continued with the install. As expected the install wizard said that it could not locate a driver. I let it "search" for the driver and Vista located a driver on MS WEB site and downloaded it. The driver appears to be for a Atheros USB 2.0 Wireless Network Adapter but works just fine.

Ine note: It works OK on a 10 fot USB extension but not on a 20 foot USB extension.

Good luck

Netgear has strong connection but it doesnt connect

I think you may that the "Drivers" & OR settings for this WiFi adapter are not working correctly. What ya need to do is Install the "Drivers" & "Software" from the Netgear CD that came with ya device and set it all up per your manual. Here are a couple of links to help below.. Basically, ya install the drivers & software reboot, insert ya USB WiFi into ya USB port, if it then asks for "Drives" point it to ya CD... when finished then you should be able to "See" ya Access point etc.. and connect.. setting any protocols you wish..
