I had a similar problem, I haven't attempted to print in colour for sometime, but my printer now won't print in colour. I did a nozzle check and deep head cleanig, the nozzle check did not print the colour. Replaced all the colour cartridges. The nozzle check is fine for black but streaky colours appear at B,G,L and M.

Hi,
new cartridges can be defective also.
Remove and re-insert the cartridge, double check them,
( leave printer on )
Check printer's Advanced properties are not set for black only,
switch off at mains, reboot,
Run maintainance on it, head cleaner, nozzles etc...
if the same, swap out, the color cartridge it is faulty.
Hope this helps
Regards.

How do I get the printer to print when it only has the blk ink cartridge that is new and the color ink is running out. It prints everything red. What do I do?

Get new color cart. Most inkjet printers will not print anything if one of the carts is empty.

As for printing everything red, that is a different issue. Your printer setup screen in the computer may have a "black only" setting.

What cause lose of new ink on aligning cartridges.

Unfortunately, the printer does not actually measure the ink in the carts, but measures how many droplets called for. The carts may actually be full, but the printer now thinks they're empty. Most likely the black ink needs to be "charged" because you've cleaned out the pipe. I don't know what to do to charge it, and you'll likely need new carts.

Print colors

You might want to run a cleaning page through it. This uses up more ink that a typical print job, but it will allow you to clean the heads and force ink through them.

Prints very faintly, cant read at all. printed configuration page and got nothing but some block lines colors yellow, red, blue but no printing. Printer is new and has not been used much. was alright a...

well ushally the ink carts have exporation dates incoded in them so after those days it almost automatically turn them off.

when you buy a new computer ink carts are 25% to max 50% full but your printer would read them as full as well

try new ink carts or contact your manufactuer and tell them that your issue and chances are its a dryed out ink cart and they will ushally send you replacements for free.

Brother MFC-640CW Replaced Black catridge becomes empty

Compatible carts do make a lot of trouble. One point is the draining! The ink has flown into the cart assy and beyond that to the bottom of the printer. As long as you can print without problems you dont have to do anything. If the test pages wont show the correct color you have to open the printer and to clean the assy and the bottom.

Do use original ink carts though these wont drain and give correct info to printer. You can very simple refill them with dye ink. Dye ink only!!!

First, wouldn't print black, now won't print magenta- all new cartridges!

Unplug machinepowercord. Open printer and take all carts out. Plug in power. Machine demands carts. Put new one in: Replace with original ink carts!. When asked push 1 (yes New cart). If you have used thirdparty carts, there could be a prob due to construticon or ink quality. In case there is no bk after 3x cleaning cycles anymore, the head is clogged: This happens because the filter in front of the nozzels is clogged by pigmented ink. DO USE ONLY DYE INK for all types of brother inkjet machines!!!
