Question about Sony Handycam CCD-TRV608 Camcorder
My video camcorder does not work and is showing an LCD error message of C:31:22. I tried removing the tape, turning off the camcorder and removing the battery as well as hitting the reset button but the problem still persists.
Could be a few things. heads may need to be cleaned, they could also be wet due to condinsation. the take up reel table may be weak. These can be taken apart and the spring can be strecthed slightly to increase the clutch tension. the capstan motor could have failed or something like debris could be binding it's turning ability. one of the guides may have came off it's arm. sometimes these can be snapped back into place.

In DCRTRV430 Camcorder, the C:31:42 error message is a Self diagnostic display. This message can be clearly identified by the help of a Sony Authorized service technician. Each of these codes indicates the symptoms and resolutions of the Camcorder. In C:31:42, the issue is with the tape and the tape mechanism.
I suggest that you remove and reinsert the tape to check if it helps. You may also try inserting new tapes in the Camcorder. Please remove the battery and/or power cable, connect, and perform operations from the beginning. You may also try resetting the Camcorder back to factory default after removing the tape.
To Reset the Camcorder, perform the steps below:
? Please open the LCD screen to locate the RESET button.
? To reset the Camcorder, press the RESET button using a sharp-pointed object.
? Please make sure that the Camcorder is turned on while pressing the reset button.
Also, try turning off the Camcorder and remove the battery pack. Then move the 'Power Switch' of the Camcorder to the ON position
for 1 minute. After about 1 minute, move the 'Power Switch' to the OFF position.
Now reinsert the battery, turn on the Camcorder and check whether it is working fine.
