Sps 1000 - pc connection

How and where do I connect the Samsung sps 1000 cash register to my pc? Cannot find a diagram of connections. I have programming manual, software, etc. I have read that it can be connected either via modem or directly with cables, but have not found a usb port anywhere on the register!

The usb port isn't in your cash register. Your cash register has a serial port that should look like this: sps 1000 - pc connection - 70b547a.jpg
You should have a cable that has a USB connector at one end and a port that will accomodate a cable like pictured above.

Hi,
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US.
click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

Bad value error message

It means the number entered for the task to be performed is wrong. It is easy enough to imagine a numbered menu where you are instructed to choose keys 1 through 5 and you hit a 6 and an error message is generated. You are entering a "value" outside the accepted parameters of the program. Some programs simply do not explain human errors such as entering "B" when we should have answered entered a "2." Such entries are bad "values." Here is an operator's manual and a link to support (which may not be free).

Did you have a power surge lately? Is it attached to a surge protector? It sounds like a board got fried; maybe the screen, though.

Sorry. Far too old. No connectivity whatsoever for this model. It was a very low end register.

My samsung till won't talk to my lap top

Windows Vista is the last operating system that you would want to use for legacy hardware -legacy being anything that requires a usb to rs 232c adaptor. Scripts required to make this work would drive you to an abacus. If you need to have a cash register input on a permanent basis I would recommend another operating system, even a real old computer would be easier to interface or you could use the modem output of the Samsung to connect to your laptop in a LAN configuration maybe even with a null modem connection. Vista will drive you crazy with permission denials with cries of cyber-sodomy with an analog interface directly connected. The Samsung 755 has a USB interface but since you don't have the correct input for your laptop it will be far easier to use the cash register an an old (cheap) computer with an RS 232 interface and connect it to your laptop with a wired or wireless LAN configuration. Those USB to DB9 0r DB25 or PS2 adaptors still cannot match the speed parameters that the laptop US Host controller would ever find acceptable. Windows XP or 2000 might be a consideration but Vista is already neurotic enough without interfaces it was not designed to accomodate. I hope this will save you from alot of frustration. respectfully, Steve Medley
