Question about GE Monogram ZISS420NRSS 42" Built-In Side-By-Side Refrigerator (ZIS-S420NRSS, ZIS S420NRSS)

I have a GE SxS that I bought in Sept. 06. About

I have a GE SxS 25cu. ft. that I bought in Sept. 06. About a month ago the water dispenser quit working but the ice maker still worked. Then the day before yesterday, the fridge started clicking like it was trying to run but couldn't get a good connection; it sounds like a really loud clock. We found out if we turned the freezer temp control off, the clicking stops but now it seems that the fridge part is not working. I called GE and what do ya know; it only had a one year warranty! They of course didn't offer any solution. Please help.

First you need to turn the freezer temp control back on(That just turned the whole refrigerator off)
The water dispenser may have stopped due to line freezing inside the refrigerator.
The ticking could have been the the element for the defrost cycle or the starter on the compressor.
So,turn it back on,set the temp to a normal setting and if the ticking is still there, wait 30 minutes to see if it stops,If no ticking is there when you restart it,wait 24 hour and check the temp inside as well as the water and ice dispenser,If all work,It is a defrost issue. If so you will either need a defrost timer, defrost element,or defrost thermostat.
If the ticking is still there,You will need to replace the start/run capacitor.

Water and Ice dispenser quit functioning

the solution to this problem is so simple it makes me laaugh out loud. the bulb in the door that illuminates when a glass is placed under the water dispenser draws too much current when it gets old. just remove the bulb and it will work fine. you can then replace the bulb whenever you find it at a hardware store. I had the same problem, and spent hours online looking and was ready to buy a new motherboard to fix it. I have alot of faith in GE, and all of the bashing is a horse ****. GE makes turbine engines that power alot of the airplanes we fly in and i think they know a thing or two about engineering.

Tip

GE side by side refrigerators wont dispense water.

if you have a GE SxS refr that doesnt dispense water thru the door but you hear the valve buzzing or humming, then you most likely have a frozen water line inside the dispenser housing.
GE makes a repair kit for this. it has a foil type heater, with a 2 wire hook up. it is easy to install and is part # WR49X10173.
available from all internet parts sources for about 40 bucks.

Ice/water maker won't dispense

Icemaker only dispenses crushed ice even when in cube position. Water/light work fine. Have already replaced control module circuit board.

My GE Refrigerator Clicks for hours but will not start.

Clicking you describe sounds like a bad motherboard. Water dispenser issues have been result of frozen water in the tubing in the bottom of the FF area, which you should not have at the moment, so if it is not dispensing water now I'd check the water valve coil. (there are two coils on the inlet valve, one for the icemaker and one for the water dispenser.)

GE Arctica (PSS26NGSB) ice and water dispenser

need to call ge at 1800-386-1215 some of these sxs have a door insulation issue that they will either send replacement doors to an authorized service company to exchange at no cost to you or offer a rebate for a newer model. yours might be in this group
have your model and serial number out of the ref located in the refrigerator section, about 4-5 inches from the celing down the right side and call and see

its possible that your water tank has frozen up, try turning the refrig off and leave the doors open for about 10-15 mins and try it again. if that works just reset temp controls a little lower..
