Question about JVC GR-D370 Mini DV Digital Camcorder
Do I need a fire wire card to transfer video from tape to my PC? I have a GR-D370U camcorder and a gateway laptop with a 1394 port.
1394 and Firewire are the same interface. Firewire is simply the trademarked name Apple has for the IEEE 1394 interface.
The 1394 interface comes in a couple of different types and can also have different physical plug ins. Your laptop likely has a mini-DV type plug and so does your camera. You'll just have to make sure you get the right cable (or plug-to-plug converter for a cable you have).

Hi a firewire input is different from an 1394 port. For the laptop you can buy an firewire interface.
