Depending on your mechanical "gift". It is relatively simple. Doing it yourself will save you money. But if the cost of the motor itself is 300, your better off replacing the dryer. Good luck

My GE Whirlpool Duet dryer which is only about two years old is not putting out any heat

Hi,
When the dryer wont heat it is the thermal fuse that is bad, you can test it with a voltmeter before replacing. This fuse is located inside the rear panel and it cannot be reset.

Hope this will help...

Dryer runs fine, just never heats up. its about 7 years old. I would like to try to fix it myself. Is this difficult to replace heating element. what does it cost?

You can save a ton of money replacing your dryer element. Not all are the same and some can even be restrung for further savings. themobilian_403.jpgthemobilian_404.jpgthemobilian_405.jpgthemobilian_406.jpgthemobilian_407.jpgthemobilian_408.jpgthemobilian_409.jpg

My whirlpool duet dryer will not turn on. It's 4 years old and I change the filter every time. Lately the clothes have not been getting dry even after I run it several times on heavy duty. Last night none...

Hello

As it was not heating earlier and now it wont turn on so it means that the thermal fuse is bad and needs replacement. This part is located on the blower wheel housing inside the duct, you can also check this fuse for continuity before replacing. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

I have a 4 year old duet dryer that does not heat. Is it difficult to get/replace the heating element?

If its only 4 years old you probably have a bad thermal protector, Take the bottom front cover off and check with a meter to see if any are open. They cost about 35$. Otherwise look for a local guy to do the job for 150$

Dryer takes hours to dry clothes.

Sounds like a heating element has gone bad. You have to tear apart more of the dryer to get to it.

I was told the bearing is shot on the Whirlpool Duet Washer and it is not worth repairing, the machine is only 6 year old, any advice?

a 6 year old washer should not be scrapped unless it is made in china, replacing a 5$ bearing is worth fixing. even if you need to buy a drum unit.

Duet front loader dryer

Check the lint trap and the vent. If the vent is clogged or crushed in anyway then replace it with a new dryer vent.
There reasons why a dryer will not dry clothes:
Clogged Lint Trap
Crushed or clogged vent
Last but not your issue, not getting and heat to the unit due to glow ignitor bad or no gas supply or bad gas valve.
So check what I told you and this should fix the problem right away

Dryer motor

if the motor buzzes when you push start then it is a bad motor.as long as the drum turns freely by hand.
