Question about Liebert UPStation GXT2700RT-208 (GXT2700RT-208B) UPS System

50Hz to 60Hz conversion

Is it possible to set up the unit so that the input is 240V 50Hz and the output is 240V 60Hz? I need to power 60Hz US made equipment in a European country and can use a transformer to step down the voltage but still need frequency conversion.

Hi, Your idea is basically sound and should work as long as the UPS originally is designed to produce 240V 60Hz and has its own built in timebase. The reason is that the input as long as the voltage matches makes no difference (50 or 60 Hz). By design, the UPS converts the input voltage to DC to charge the internal battery. The battery then powers an electronic circuitry that produces the 240V 60Hz. The input is then isolated from the output in terms of frequency. This is a common design, however, there are some (not many) that uses for its local oscillation sampling from the source and therefore will replicate the input frequency to its output, but very rare; it's better that you know they exist. Hope this be of some help/idea. Post back how things turn up or should you need further information. Good luck and kind regards. P.S. The only problem with 50 and 60 Hz is heat buildup which is tolerable and still within safe parameters. The only time the 50/60 HZ makes a big difference is when motors are used, timers such as in the early designs of microwave ovens, washing machines, etc., pumps and other highly inductive consumers. Most electronic devices converts the AC input to DC and therefore the frequency has negligible effect. Of course others may see it differently.

AC Volts on Input when loaded

If you're saying that there is voltage output on the input wire when unplugged from the wall you should contact the manufactureer as this is a defect.

what caused the UPS to transfer to Bypass? could be inverter fault, would you please check your battery set, maybe the input power is outside the tolerance and causing UPS to discharge the battery set , as well when battery set reaches the end of discharge it is causing the UPS to transfer to bypass and there is something missing on the input yellow Phase.
if the above is not true check the load type that is connected to the UPS output that is causing UPS to switch off in 10 minutes time.

Smart UPS VT 10KVA fault "Mains Not Available. Input Freq/Volt Out of Range". All phases input and output giving the expected voltages 240V and frequency OK at 50Hz.

Sounds like you hooked up the input to the UPS on the bypass. Either way either way your input is not there. Also make sure you configure the UPS prior to placing online.

Did you measure with a true RMS meter?
If yes,the results are normal,but your ground connection is not very good.
The case has 110v potential (exactly half of the input&output 220v) because of the input and output capacitor filters (a capacitor is conectet from phase to casis and an other from neutral to chasis,thus resulting a 1/2 voltage divider). Because of this,the earthing is necessary.

I have a ups system that i am feeding with 240 vac phase to phase and both phase to ground readings are 120 vac but when i go to battery power i get 240 vac phase to phase and 1 phase to ground i get 220...

No, I don't think there is anything wrong. Your UPS seems to have a single phase 240V output, which seems to be "floating" (no or only a weak ground reference).
Just be aware that you can only power 240V equipment from it. If you need 120V for some devices _and_ if the UPS provides sine wave output, you could use a step down transformer for this purpose.

I've had this same issue what it boils down to is that the Power IN is not being distributed properly across the Power Outlets.

Step 1. unplug everything from the unit and power the ups down. If the alarm clears itself the UPS is mostly likely fine. if it doesn't not clear send it in for repair

Step 2. If step 1 cleared the alarm try distributing the decives across the outlets differently.

There are two inverters so two output if everything is plugged into one side (ie a power bar with 10 things plugged into it) and nothing on the other side this could cause the alarm.

    Covert 230V 50Hz to 230V 60Hz

    To convert to 50Hz will be expensive as the Aircon needs alot of startup power. You could ask maker if 50Hz will be ok, usually motor will run slower so unit will be less efficient, alway check with maker. Or try supplier to see if they will exchange for what you ordered first.

    Changing input frequency of Powerware 9315-80 Model 65 UPS

    Unfortunately, it seems that you UPS is mostly designed for 60 Hz. However, there seems to be an exception for 380-415V input / 380-415V output where 50 Hz is supported.

    Of course, 380-415V is not usable for IT systems as is, you would then have to transform it back to 208V or whatever voltage your infrastructure is requirering.

    One thing that is not specified in this document is if the UPS can be easily switched from one input voltage to another or if you need to replace some parts.
