Fills but will not agitate, spin, or drain, motor sounds strained
I have a top load whirlpool which fills but will not agitate, spin, or drain. When you turn it on, the motor sounds strained. If you try to operate the agitator by hand, the top part will spin freely, but the bottom will not move.

Sounds like the motor coupling is bad- it keep the motor and transmission safe when overloaded and its cheap, if the motor is making noise that's the place I'd start. After that it's the motor (make sure it has power when it should) or the transmission- both not cheap.
Thats very agitating. There is a motor that runs the agitater, its either going out or you have lost the drive,a little spendy to have fixed.
