Smoke coming from control knob

Smoke is coming from the control knob and it smells like an electrical fire.

Sounds like you have a bad (elemnet)infinite switch. turn off the power before something really shorts out, replaceing the switch requires uninstalleing hte cooktop from the cabinet , removing the glass top and replacing the switch. first seeing which one is damaged

if this is the model with the touch control buttons on front , ive seen a stove top spill that got down inside there cause some missoperation ,id start to look there for a reason , then id move on to replacing the control panel and last the logic board (its on back of front panel ) but I will say id unplug it till I resolved this problem if it turns itself on and your not home ,what could happen !!!!

Boil element caught on fire and melted.

If element caught on fire, I would suspect stove needs cleaning. Do that then elements should not smoke for long. (I hope all moisture was removed from stove!!!)

Burning smell from underneath the bottom oven plate

Something spilled into the area where the flame is Those big gaps in the bottom plate is how the heat gets into the oven from the burner . Try letting the oven burn off whatever spilled in it

Hi There are a few things to check for: First make sure the electrode (the small metal piece that the spark comes ...or The water that you spilled onto the cooktop has shorted out the ignition switch in the gas control knob. Don't worry .

Gas hob ignition firing, won't stop

The elect. igniter will not turn off with the knob.

Spark switch at the valve needs to be checked/replaced.

Burner light does not go off on Amana AKT3040

Sounds like a short in that particular burner circuit. Usually when the light stays on even after cool down the heat sensor is bad. This is inside the burner. If your getting white smoke the burner switch could also be shorted out.

No recalls that I know of.  The switch for that burner has shorted and will need to be replaced.  It will be fine once it is repaired.
