HP ZT3380US drops Network

This has been a good computer. Recently began dropping the network connection....both wired and wireless LAN. It connects for 20 seconds, and then disconnects automatically for 3-5 while it reloates itself in time/space, then goes thru the cycle again. I have attempted to update the drivers specific to the onboard Ethernet and wireless network interfaces, and the 1394 adapter also. Nothing has worked. short of taking it all the way back to a clean disk and fresh OS install, I am at wits end. all thoughts appreciate, thanks in advance, Gino

HP Elitebook and Apple Extreme wireless connection isssue.

You may want to see if you are able to change the preamble on computer and the router to use short preamble. If you are using Windows you can go to the network connections to check the advance properties of your wireless card. As for the Apple Airport Extreme you will have to contact Apple for information if your router can change the preamble.

Dose the hp omnibook xe4100 have wirless or do i need a wireless card

You could do with the instruction manual, download from here:-

http://bizsupport1.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/lpi06480/lpi06480.pdf

On page 14, it shows where the wireless on-off button would/should be

on page 67 it states:-

If your computer includes a wireless on-off button-located on the right side of the front

of the computer-you can connect by radio to a wireless local area network (LAN) and

access computers and other resources on the network.

A wireless network provides all the functions of a typical "wired" network, but also

provides for "roaming." Since your computer connects to the network by radio rather

than through cables, you can move from place to place within the network-from your
office to a conference room, for example-and remain on the network the entire time.

Internet/network problems

Connecting the laptop to your network using a network cable, does this solve your Internet problems?
Does this works without the Internet connection dropping out?
If the wireless connection has a low signal, try positioning the wireless router or the laptop to get a better signal strength.
Also try reinstalling your wireless driver.

Will a computer with 10/10 LAN connect to my wireless LAN?

The 10/100 LAN is a wired connection. If it is connected to the wrt54g through an ethernet cable yes it will see anything on the wireless connection but if you want the computer to use a wireless connection then you will need to get an 802.11B or 802.11G wireless adapter. The wireless adapter does not have to be Linksys but it does generally make thing easier if you use all the same brand.
