I have a Packard Bell P.C and recently, when surfing the internet using Firefox, a web page will intermittently freeze, then the cursor freezes and cannot be moved with my USB mouse. THe only solution is to turn the P.C off, and restart it each time. Any possible solutions would be appreciated!

This happens when you have a cordless phone close to the PC area, when the phone start ringing it freezes the mouse because the phone is using same channel like the mouse uses, try to change the channel of the cordless phone or get a different brand mouse.

I'm having the same problem with my Dell Logitec USB mouse. It not only began to freeze (forcing me to unplug/plug again) but the left button became very hard to click when it worked at all. I think it's age as it is five years old. Until I talk to a Dell support person and perhaps buy a new one, what I did is SWITCHED buttons. Go to Control Panel, click on Mouse - then on the Buttons tab - click on "switch buttons". At least that way it'll continue working for a while.

Left button isn't working

If you can hear a click when pressing the button the mechanics may be OK. Unplug and replug the mouse in.

If USB, try mouse in a different connector.

Borrow a mouse and see if it works then.

If it is a wheel mouse (as opposed to optical) it may simply be full of dust and grit. Open it up and clean it out after disconnecting from the machine.

My Logitech LX3 mouse will randomly stop working for a few seconds. It usually starts responding again after a few clicks, but after a little while of doing this it will completely stop working altogether....

Here are a few ideas:

  • An optical mouse needs to be on a non-reflective surface. A porous mousepad is best and easiest for the optics to see movement on.
  • It appears to be wired, if wireless, it could be the batteries.
  • When the computer is very busy, it will sometimes freeze the pointer on the screen.
  • If you have a laptop with a touchpad, disable it to prevent conflicts.

Wireless mouse does not work after changing batteries.it always has in the past The Dell computer and mouse is probably 8 years old but has always worked.

Try moving the mouse receivers usb plug in to another port. Unplug any new devices and restart computer. Then replug in any new usb devices.
If still not working.......
Look at Office Depot and other office stores for a replacement wireless mouse. I have seen them as low a $9.99 on up. You might even want to upgrade and get a wireless mouse and keyboard set.

1. Try unplugging usb device and replugging in (I'm sure you already did that) LOL
2. Uninstall device driver
3. After uninstall plug in USB device
see if that works

There isn't connection between the wireless mouse and laptop

First, reload the softwear than came with the mouse. Then, check the cable connections from the receiver to your laptop. If USB, then unplug and replug, if PS-2, unplug, replug, make sure the cord(s) are seated fully in the laptop. Then change the battery in the mouse, push the connect button on the mouse, and you should be back in business. I have Logitech wireless keyboard and laptop and have not had any problems after reinstalling and checking batteries and initiating the reconnect button. You will see a small window on your screen saying the mouse is connected on Channel 1 or 2. I hope this will help you.
