Question about IBM (08K9513) Internal DVD Drive
I have a ThinkPad T41 with internal DVD drive. When I put a DVD in today, the machine goes Click, Click, Click for about 5 minutes. I ran WinDVD and got a No Drive / Disc error. I did the whole troubleshooting thing - uninstalling, reinstalling, system restore etc. etc. etc. No good. I did the PC Doctor test too, but since no disks can be read, I had to abort the test. I think it might be a problem with the actual player - maybe it's become loose or something. It's like the computer is trying to read the disk, but can't. Any ideas?
Try cleaning the lens, when a drive clicks in a certain way, its trying to read the disk, especially if you place your habd on the drive and it feels like its speedin gup and slowing down. Those are signs of the computer recalibrating the laser, or attemptong to, to read the media.
