Is this a belt driven motor if it is you have a loose belt, if not, it sounds like the bearings in the motor are going bad, in that case you will probably have to replace the motor.

Why does my sylvania electric fireplace Model S211 squeal

I had the same problem. If you remove the top row of screws on the backside of the unit, you'll see that the flame effect is created by a series of reflectors attached to a rod. Turning on the unit activates a motor that turns the rod. You'll see that the other end of the rod is just a loose end that is allowed to turn inside a plastic holder. Unfortunately, the rod rubbing against the plastic as it turns causes the annoying squealing sound. I solved the problem by wrapping a small amount of paper towel around the rod, pushing the PT into place inside that plastic rod-holder, and spraying it with a little bit of WD-40. I had to remove the entire back panel to get proper access. No more squealing noise (for now)! Time will tell if I need to reapply the WD-40.

My unit is only 2 months old and its making a squeeling grinding bearing kind of noise in front of the the unit and its on the bottom where youu can feel the grinding on the outer casing. What could it be?

I had the same issue with my Soleus PAC unit making a squealing, grinding noise.

I took the unit apart to locate the issue and found out that the water pump on the lower right side was the issue.

I removed the water pump and used warm water and a little bit of dish washing soap along with a qtip to clean the water way.

Squealing stopped.

Not sure if this is the same issue with your unit - but it can be a starting point.

Just be sure to unplug the unit while working on it. Also be careful not to puncture the coolant lines.

Good luck.

I have a coleman heat pump and the indoor unit sometimes makes a squealing noise on start up. It does not make the noise when using regular heat. (no compressor) any ideas?

Hi,
What you are hearing is the refrigerant going through the expansion valve...sometimes they will squeal as the pressure builds...depending on the valve the refrigerant has to push open a check valve and that will cause a noise...
The noise does not mean that you have a problem, and it will not hurt anything... nothing is broken, it just can be annoying...

My 2004 Chevy Trailblazer is making a bizaar noise when I start it up. It's starts as a high pitch squeal then drops to a lower pitch squeal then ends in kind of a grind. Thought it was a slipping belt but...

Hi Eabyrd05.
It's possible that you have a Starter or Flywheel/Flex-plate issue. Your starter Bendix may not be completely disengaging from the flywheel like it should. I would take it to a mechanic that you trust and have them pull the starter and look at both the Flywheel/Flex-plate, Starter Bendix and solenoid. Hope this helps.

The outside unit is making a squealing noise. It's every now and then; not constant. Just started today. What's wrong? The fan is running fine. The air inside is cool. Just a high piercing squeal every now...

sounds like its more than likely the fan motor. the bearings in the motor are notoriuos for making a squeeling noise. there arent any other parts that would make this noise. unless youre a special case. i doubt it. if youre mechanically inclined there are ways of checking the motor. If you have an amp meter you can check the amp draw on the fan motor. if it reads higher than on the label of the motor then the motor needs to be replaced. if the amp draw is good the you can try to drop some oil in the motors lube port.

Loud screeching noise coming from the unit.

A screeching or squealing noise usually comes from the fan motor. There may be an oil port and you can buy a small telescoping oil bottle at a super hardware store or an a/c supply house. Before putting in he oil, remember to TURN OFF THE POWER TO THE UNIT and only use a light squeeze on the bottle - over oiling will cause a mess inside the motor. It may be a sealed motor and no oil ports. In either case, budget for a new motor as if it's to the squealing stage, the bearings are already damaged and it's a just matter of time before before the motor bearings fail. If possible, get oil on the bearings ASAP - and use the proper lightweight oil for made for this application.

Squealing noise

Depending on the unit, thats either telling you the battery is dead, the power is out, its overloaded (too much or too large equipment) or there's another problem with the unit. If you have the cable that should have come with the unit, you can connect it to a computer and install the software for a diagnosis.

If you unplug or turn off everything connected to it and it still squeals, the battery is probably dead, but it may be that something is wrong with the UPS itself, and you should send it back under warranty, or get a replacement.

Squealing Noise from Amana ALG331RAW

these dryers have wheel like drum supports and the bronze bearing inside them will wear out causing noise. once you get the drum out, look at the belt idler pulley also it too has a bearing and either one can cause the noise.
if you can get inside the unit, and the bearings dont look worn/wobbly, then you may be able to just lubricate them and it should work for another year or two. if you can get new rollers and idler that would be best and should only cost about 15-20 bucks each.
