Cooker hood I've just moved into my flat but my cooker hood doesn't work - the fan and the light won't come on but the rest of the cooker works just fine. Any suggestions?

Unfortunately I've tried this but cant find one. The only fuse near the cooker is one next to the switch that operates the gas, which works fine. On similar cookers to mine there is always a mains switch on the wall to operate it, however I dont seem to have one - does this sound right?

Look around on the hood and cooker for a small fuse. If you find one, replace it with one of the same type and rating.

It sounds right, That is the way I would install, as an electrician for here in the states. I am assuming you are in GB, and of course there are different rules there.

May I suggest that you look around your flat for the odd switch that seems a bit out of place? I have had electricians here do funny things like that.

Fan on cooker hood does not work but light works

It it new? Maybe the fan connection in the connection panel come loose or was not done properly from factory. Turn off the breaker to the hood and inspect the wires and connections, if all is good, then maybe the switch needs replacing. Good Luck!

The light on my cooker hood comes on but motor dos,nt work it is a diplomat APP3440

It's probably a bad fan switch or a loose/corroded/broken electrical connector in the fan circuit. Another possibility (but not as likely) is the fan motor has failed.

Check power from the wall.
