Question about Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP) Console

My PSP Lite won't power up/turn on

My PSP Lite was working fine and was plugged into the charger as normal. Now it will not even turn on and there is no power going to it from the charger. I have tried the charger with another PSP and it works; so I guess it's the PSP. Any tips/tricks?

Either your psp battery is low or you are not rolling the button

When i turn on my psp the green light will come on but the screen won't come on and then a few seconds later the green light will shut off completely.

Hi tokyo_grl,
First you have to figure out what is causing the problem. Try the following steps.

1. Remove anything that is connected to the PSP, including the
Memory Stick, battery and any UMD games.
2. Plug the charger into both the wall and the PSP system, then wait for at least 30 seconds before turning the psp on.
--If the PSP turns on, your problem is not with your PSP, but with an accessory that was previously attached. If it does not turn on, your PSP is in need of a repair.
3. Next, unplug the power adapter from the PSP, and firmly place the battery into the PSP.
4. Plug in the Power Adapter once again, and wait at least 30 minutes for the PSP to begin charging, then try and power on the PSP system.
--If the PSP does not power on with the battery plugged in, but it did with just the charger, you need a new battery. If it powers on, do the next step.
5. Place the Memory Stick inside the PSP , and turn on the power. If the PSP does not turn on, but it turned on without the memory, you need a new memory stick.

If your PSP did not turn on during step 2, your PSP is bricked and indeed needs to be repaired by a qualified technician. I hope everything works out for you. Good luck.

When my psp is updating , the power turn off and psp doesn't turn on

Try this:
Remove the PSP battery and memory stick from the device. You will use these again so keep them close.
Insert the magic memory stick into the PSP card reader. The memory stick holds the firmware that will be flashed onto the PSP.
Insert the pandora battery and the PSP will turn on automatically. Press the "X" button twice to flash the firmware to the PSP. Press "X" again to shut down the PSP.
Reinsert the normal battery and memory stick and turn the PSP back on. Plug the PSP into its charger and go through the normal update process again by selecting "System Update" on the PSP menu.

My psp is not working because the charger is fried or its the psp itself and doing it.And I just got a brand new charger on last saturday too.And i was in the middle of a important level. And I LOVE monster...

Plug the psp in with the charger and remove the battery. If it turns on, then the battery may be no good.
If it dies not turn on at all, then the charger or batter is bad.
If it turns on with what little power you probably have left, it is the charger.

If you have a friend with another psp and charger, test it with his. If it is not getting power at all, then its something with the psp that you do not even want to deal with.

I have a PSP that I charged overnight and a orange light came on when i plugged it in to the wall charger. After charging all night I went to power on the PSP and it will not power on, no green or orange...

Remove the battery.
Plug the PSP charger into the PSP.
Turn it on.

The PSP works with no battery inside.
If you're not getting a green light at all, your PSP has some sort of damaged as it should work while plugged in with no battery inside.

Brand new psp battery will not charge

Did you charge it first? You need a good initial charge. Depending on the charger, it could be about 6 hours.

Also, remove the battery and check the metal contacts on the top and make sure that they are not covered by anything. Some come with a film to protect them.

Doesn't turn on

If charging by USB is not charging your player enough to even be able to power up, then you're going to have to get hold of an AC wall charger that plugs into the ZVM's round DC-IN jack (on the sync adapter). PSP chargers work perfectly, if you have one. Let it charge for a few hours this way, then post back.
