Question about Dirt Devil V6 Canister Vacuum

1 Answer

Opening up Centrixx V6

I'm trying to figure out how to get into a Dirt Devil Centrixx V6 Canister cleaner that suddenly cut out and went dead in use. The fault may be the connection of the power cord in the cord spooler that got damaged when it was pulled out too far.
I've removed all the screws that are visible and one at the back under the tube support bracket that isn't, but the top cover doesn't feel any freer.
Are there any other hidden screws - like behind the wheels? If so, how do you get the wheels off? I've taken the trim disks off the wheels, but nothing shows underneath. Are there screws under the cord release or power buttons? Or is it just glued together?
Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks.

I've now worked out for myself how to dismantle the Centrixx V6 Dirt Devil for maintenance, if anyone else is interested it may be of use to them too.

    Remove the canister

Lift out the 'D' shaped plate beneath it, by prying from the straight face.

Remove screw and washer beneath this plate.

Remove larger and two smaller screws from top of front of the base.

Remove the silver 'D' shaped support bracket on the back of the cleaner (used to store the cleaning tube and brush head) by removing the single fixing screw through it.

Remove the screw to be found in the deep, recessed hole beneath it. It is captive, so you won't lose it.

Remove the cord retraction and power buttons by inserting a slim, flat blade screwdriver or similar between the back narrower edge and the body about 1 cm (1/2 inch) in and pressing the tip of the screwdriver gently to the front to release one of the 3 holding hook tabs. The buttons can then be removed completely by manouvering the other two hook tabs out.

Remove the screw to be found in the recessed hole beneath each of these (also captive).

    Lift top away.

The above comment is the solution.

You should find a large button or flap on the floor tool. This is usually spring loaded and needs to be OUT. This should then let air in to drive the turbine which drives the spinner.

I have a Dirt Devil M130000 I Dual, which just shut off.

yOU MIGHT TRY LOOKING DEEP INTO THE DEVIL PAST THE CANISTER INTAKE AS THIS IS WHERE THEY CAN GET A HUGE CLOG THAT YOU CAN'T SE UNLESS YOU STICK YOUR HAND WAY IN THE UBE. DO THID WITH THE DEVIL TURNED OFF. CHECK FOR A SHORT IN THE CORD AS WELL BE SAFE FIRST.

Dirt devil easy steamer need directions to use

Thank you for responding to my question. I should have spent some time really looking at my little machine. It wasn't hard to figure out -once I found and read the back of the cleaning solution bottle and tried my luck following the water to cleaner ratio.. Opening, adding the cleaning solution and water and re-closing the reservoir was pretty easy. Everything worked out fine...and my carpet is...spotless. Thank you, Cmarie
