To Test the limit switch put the wires together (if just 2 terminal) and see if it works. If so replace the switch assuming it is not a manual reset. REPLACE the switch, Don't just leave it by passed. If it has 3 or more terminals you will have to find the wire diagram and decide which terminals should be closed and if any should be open, or if the switch has some kind of built in heater on the part.

If the same thing happens you know its not this part but something else and you'll have to get a volt meter to start eliminating whats working from whats not and when its working to get to the bottom of the problem and finding what it is.

Please if this helps you rate me as high as you possibly can. Thank you for using fix ya.

Yup it could be same problem but it may also indicate that you have a problem with airflow system should not cycle on high limit

in most cases units are not designed to operate on high limit it is a saftey device the air flow problem could be caused by location of heater, improper fan blade or motor or just poor design by manufactorer the other thing to check would be gas pressure if heater is over fired this could cause cycling on limit

This is a down flow unit. There is no pressure valve on this unit. Here is all the parts on this unit.
1. Manual - reset, when used.
2. Blower and blower motor
3. Relief box also known as a exhaust flue.
4. Gas valve control knob or electric switch, ON/OFF
5. Gas Valve
6. Gas burner
7. Ratting plate
8. Blower door safety switch
9. Blocked vent safeguard tube and switch
10. Gas Manifold
11. Manual limit switch (2)
12.Hot surface ignitor
13. Flame sensor
14. Inducer blower motor
15. Control board with relays and transformer.
That is all the parts. The first thing the heater gets a call from the thermostat to the control board marked W. The board sends 24v to the inducer fan relay which makes and causes the inducer fan to come on now there is a small tube that runs from the inducer fan box to a switch when the switch makes it sends power to the board which proves you have cleared the exhaust flue then the flat surface ignitor starts to glow and then gas valve opens and fires. now if this tube is stopped up the heater will not fire and will lock the unit out. Also if the flue is stopped up with trash it will do the same thing. If you are not familiar with gas heating units you should call a service company out and check out the system there is a lot of things that need to be checked out every heating season as to keep you and your family safe.

Cozy gas wall heater won't ignite, pilot light is on

There are two types of igniters, spark-type or glow heater. The glow heaters wear out and crack or break and the spark-type spark gap gets fouled or dirty. Both could have electronics problems that drive the glow heater or spark systems. The Filtrete thermostat is not the issue. While rapping the unit makes the glow igniter come back together to glow again.

My goodman furnacs says my limit switch is bad blower works but does not ignite .....? its modle gmt070-3 and where is it located

There are several limit switches in the unit there in various places in burner compartment. One on blower housing . One thing that I would try is replaceing your filter and turn the power off to the furnace and try starting the system after power is D/C for 5 minutes.

It sounds like you got a tough one there. When you say the blower starts up and then the igniter comes on are you refering to induced draft motor or main blower. The proper sequence is for the thermostat to call for heat at which point the induced draft motor should come on and run for 30-45 seconds, then the igniter should heat up for a few seconds then gas valve should open and main burner should light. After limit switch reaches set point for fan on ,blower should come on till after heat has reached thermostat setting then burner should go out, and blower run until fan off setting is reached on limit switch. If your furnace is not following this sequence and then not always doing the same thing in the same order,I would recommend that you change out board again. I have had several problems similar to this with Goodman units and all but one time installing new board solved it. That time I did everything I knew to do and talked to factory service techs repeatedly and finally installed new furnace. As far as your question about insulation,. As long as it is fire proof I can't see where it would hurt anything. Sorry I'm not more help. Good luck and thanks.

If the unit fires but the main blower fan doesn't come on the the unit is shutting off on a temp high limit switch and it sounds like the problem is the main blower fan motor or control

Legacy heater won't stay light

Hi, Lets see if I can help you out. You have a wall furnace with a forced air fan, 120volts I am sure. It could be a couple of things happening. You say the pilot will light and the burners fire, but after the heat exchanger reaches it's fan on temp, all just shuts down? Does the blower ever come on? It sounds to me that this unit is shutting off on a safety such as the high limit switch. On wall units that don't use a blower, the limit is located in the upper section of the furnace when you remove the cover. If your fan motor never comes on at all, the heat will open this switch and shut down everything. Not knowing if the fan motor is any good, i am just giving you some ideas what would happen if it was bad, shorted, open windings ect.If the motor never comes on then check to see if you have power to it.If you do, then the motor is faulty. If the motor runs, then go to you're high limit. It is a small round flat disc, black wire in and out back to gas valve.Take a jumper wire and jump across this limit and see if it works for you. If so, it would be worth the cost of replacing the limit. If the blower is bad, replace the furnace.Make sure your thermostat is ok also. You can also jump out the stat to see if the unit comes on and stays on. Jump the red and white, you should have only two.If you do this and it runs, do it several times. If all works well, then replace the stat. So there are several things you can check yourself. Please let me know about the blower motors condition. Good Luck,

Red light blinks 4 times, will only cycle once

the high limit is sensing the internal temprature of the furnace. If your filter is very dirty or you have to many of the registers/dampers shut it will cause the temp. of the furnace to exceed its rating and the high limit will open the circuit and shut down the flow of gas. Your blower will then run until the furnace has cooled and the switch will close and allow it to come back on. This is bad for your furnace, make sure your filter is clean and you dont have to many registers shut. If you have run the unit without a filter the problem could be much more sever requiring blower wheel and coil cleaning and possibly a cracked heat exchanger.

Heater will not light, ignighter glows, fan comes on,wont light, then shuts off

If your igniter comes on but no ignition, that eliminates the possibility of a bad or clogged pressure switch, high limit or flame rollout switch. Sounds to me like you have a control board, or a gas valve going bad. Could even be some loose, corroded, or faulty wiring. Before the igniter comes on the furnace does a self diagnostics to ensure everything is working, or the furnace will not make it to the igniter sequence. Inducer motor, pressure switch/s, limit controls are closed…then comes on the ignitier, gas valve opens, pilot runners and burners ignite, flame sensor detects the flame, blower comes on and all operations are working.

Hope this helps
