Have you tried right clicking the local area connection and clicking diagnose and clicking reset the network adapter (local area connection) or try the other options if any pops up if it has a problem that might fix it

Cant connect to cable modem

Powercycle the modem and pc.
Unplug the modem from the power outlet, do the same with the computer. Leave everything unplugged for 30secs. Then reconnect the modem, wait for the lights to come up, then power up the computer.
If the computer is still not connecting to the modem, click on start, click on search and type in device manager. Then press enter.
Click on the arrow next to Network Adapters. Look for the ethernet adapter, then double click it. if it says that the driver is disabled, just click on enable device.

You might want to open up your device manager on your xp computer and click on network adapters and double click on your nic and copy down the settings under the advanced tab then do the same on the Windows 7 machine and change the values to the same on the Wnds 7 nic adapter.

Dell XP 200 Dimension ethernet port

Hello.

I'd suggest testing with another computer and the same Ethernet cable to your modem to see if the results are the same and to narrow down which component is the problem.

Was it always slow with this setup or did something change.

Is the Linksys adapter connected via USB ? That would be slower than an internal adapter.

Try updating the Linksys adapter software - Device Manager - rightclick - update driver.

Hope these suggestions help.

Error code 31 4 to 6 network adapter

Check these things:
  1. Is you Ethernet adapter Active
  2. Is your Cable the correct one (NOT a cross over)
  3. Refresh your IP Address for your Ethernet Card
  4. Reboot your computer and power down your modem, then power the modem up AFTER your windows is logged on
  5. Verify your modem "really" can connect, use another computer.
  6. Verify the are no network issues with your ISP

Toshiba Cable Modem PCX1100u

OK. First of all you do not need a special or seperate driver for the Ethernet port. Its factory loaded with your OS.

All you need to do is plug the Ethernet cable into the LAN port on your HP Desktop and then into the LAN port (not the WAN port) of your cable modem.

The second thing is if its only a cable modem, then I suggest you proceed with caution as there is NO built-in firewall on a cable modem. Yes you will get on the net, but you are likely to be attacked with virus the moment you connect. I suggest you check very carefully whether the cable modem (if that's what it is) does/does not have a firewall as you would be very unwise connecting up like that.

Next, forget USB connection to the router/cable modem. That technolgy we've moved on from.. Your Vista shodul be 'plug n play' adn should configure the router for you. obviously that bit isn't so slick on yours.

Let me know how you get on..

Network cable unpluged error sign

Hi .

With most issues like this it has something to do with the ethernet cable or modem. If you tried replacing it and stillhave the same issue then it could be on your PC.

You can check device manager first by going through the steps below:

Assuming you are using winxp { almost same steps for vista}:

Start > control panel { classic view} > systems > hardware > device manager and on that window pane look for the +network adapters > make sure your devices ion there doesnt have red X on it . If so right click it and choose Enable. If it has a yellow or red exclamation marks { IRQ conflicts} then you need to reinstall the device by right clicking it and unistall > restart PC and make sure you have your system disk for your PC.

You can also check your network connections by going to start > run > type : ncpa.cpl on the run command and it will route you to networlk connections .Check if your network connection is disabled. , ifYES right click and choose Enable.

If that doesnt hel assuming you have replaced ethernet cable/ modem then might as well buy a new NIC {network interface card} for your PC to isolate the issue.

Other works around for this is using a USB connection to your modem or getting a wireless USB for you computer and get a router instead for wireless conenctivity.

In this way you mayu connect multiple computers in the future and wont have messy cables running throughout your house.

Cheers.Hope this helps.

Let us know soon.

Good luck

Network adapter not showing up in device manager

The tech was incorrect - your network adapter is just not recognized by the system. If you install the correct drivers for your particular network adapter it should be recognized, which should then solve your problem. Search the Gateway website for network drivers for your particular desktop, and if the network adapter was added (not built into the computer) then determine the manufacturer and model of your network adapter, then search the manufacturer's website for the correct drivers.

Even easier, if you still have the original disks that came with your computer and/or network adapter, they should include the correct drivers.

Hope this helps!
