Start up problem

I was watching a DVD and it starts shutting down by it's self when I had it plugged in to the wall. When I hit the power button the battery indicator light flashes and nothing happens. I put a battery in it a week ago and now the battery light does not even flash. I't won't turn on at all.

Laptop black screen

You turned on your laptop and horrors upon horrors, the screen is BLACK! You see that the laptop has power but besides that nothing is happening.
I want you to know that there is a very good chance you can get out of this situation quickly and without any cost. This fix works on all brands of laptops:

• 2) REMOVE YOUR AC ADAPTOR CORD, that's the wall power, remove it.
That will drain any static electricity that has built up on your laptop system board and many times fixes the problem of a black screen.
After the 30 seconds re-connect your laptop to the wall power and hit the power button normally and see if the laptop comes back up.
Replace your battery.
or if wont start
Here are the fix steps:
1. Turn off your computer
2. Disconnect every wire from it (including power)
3. Disconnect the battery from the bottom of the computer.
There will be two tabs labeled 1 and 2.
4. Re-plug in the power wire. (the battery should not be in the computer)
5. Turn on the power. The screen will work. Choose start windows normally. (if you get that screen)
6. Go to Control Panel -> (Mobile PC) -> Power Options -> Under Balanced choose change plan settings
7. Choose Change advanced power settings
8. Find Processor power management and change the minimum processor state from 5% to 100% for each On battery and Plugged in.
9. Click Apply then OK
10. Shut down you computer.
11. Disconnect the power cord.
12. Re-install the battery on the bottom of the laptop, plug in the power cord, and restart the computer.

I have acer aspire 6930. i turn it on and it goes directly to a screen acer erecovery management. i restarted it and hit F8 until i got the safemode screen. i made a choice and it took me right back to...

What preceded this issue? did you try to do a recovery? OS upgrade? If not you can try a "Cold Start",Remove AC plug from wall outlet, Remove battery, Hold down on/off button for 10 seconds, Replace battery, plug into wall outlet and start normally. That's I good place to start, If you havent tried it already. ALSO remove any Media, as in CDs, DVD, USBs etc. let me know what the results are we can try something else. be as specific as you can.

Dell Inspiron 5720

F-8 is the key, Try to "cold start" the computer, meaning remove the power plug from wall outlet or uplug from computer, remove battery, now replace battery and plug computer into wall outlet. Push the on button while "TAPPING" the F-8 key repeatedly Tap, tap, tap, until you hear a beep or it load the black menu with safe mode options. IF THAT DOES NOT WORK: shut down the laptop, remove AC supply, remove battery. Plug the AC power back in,DO NOT INSTALL BATTERY, Start the machine, without battery installed, and tap F-8 repeatedly. If it still fails, PULL THE PLUG OUT OF THE WALL OUTLET WHILE THE COMPUTER IS STILL RUNNING. NOW PLUG THE LAPTOP BACK INTO THE WALL AND START, THAT SHOULD TAKE YOU TO A BLACK PAGE WITH WHITE SCRIPT WITH OPTIONS YOU ARE LOOKING FOR.

Laptop will not shutdown

Remove the battery and unplug it from the wall. Try holding down the power button for about 8 seconds it should shut down. Just a suggestion! When you shut down your laptop make sure that your shutting down properly at the start button select shut down. If all else fails and this does not work.
You may want to have the power button checked out or the board. Or clean files out and start up programs add-ware or spy-ware may be preventing you from shutting down as well. This is also a common issue that causes very slow shutdowns on any computer system packed up junk having to close out. John

My dell d600 doesnt start after a power outage. It was plugged into a power surge protector. This has happened before (power outages) and never a problem. After this outage, I was able to get online for...

A little googling gave me this
Looks like it could be a memory problem. You could check if one or both of your memory is damaged by removing one at a time. The manual should have the procedure for adding / replacing memory.

Hi there i can help you, here the reason for your computer to blink 1 time and shut down is because its not recieving enough power this mean you need to check the wall outlet, the power adopter, and the power supply on the computer 1 of those 3 things is having a problem you can check them 1 at a time and you will isolate the problem

Will not start on battery or plug-in to wall outlet - when holding down the power on button to start - nothing happens

Take out the hard drive and dvd drive and also make sure the battery is out. Plug in the AC Adapter and then see if the laptop turns on. If it still doesn't turn on then that means the motherboard is bad.

Blue led power light blinks even after shutdown

What operating system are you using? When the power led continues to slowly blink, that means that the laptop is in standby mode and not fully shut down. In Vista, if you hit the power button on the laptop or the power button under the start button, it is configured to go to standby and not shut down. Make sure to hit the arrow all the way to the right and select shutdown from the list of dropdown options.
