Recording from Foxtel IQ (PACE) to Sony RDR-HXD970

I am trying to record a program previously recorded on our Foxtel IQ (PACE) to the hard disk drive of our Sony RDR-HXD970. I have tried connecting a SCART cable to both the VCR SCART port and TV SCART port and the other end into the Sony, then play a program on the IQ and attempt to record on to the Sony. Sony unit records a blank program (that is, the recording is a plain black screen). What am I doing wrong?

SOURCE: How to Record TV Programs w/o Cable Box/Satellite Receiver?

Ok, I had this issue. And this is what you need. Even if you have a new HDTV, you need a converter box. The new TVs are not made to send out the signal just take it in. Best price I have seen on converter boxes was H.E.B

1. Antenna to converter box
2. Converter box to VCR
3. VCR to T.V

You will have to leave the converter box on when you are recording or leave it on when you leave the house. Also it has to be on the channel you are recording and the TV needs to be on channel 3 or 4. When you program your VCR it needs to be for the time and stuff. But put it to record channel 3 or 4. Which ever you pick for it to record off of. It really is easy. But I do hate that the people that had this great idea made it to where we can only record from one channel. I am going to try to send a diagram that I drew. Not the best artist, but you can tell what I mean. I can not seem to get it to attach the attachment. But you should not have a problem. Good Luck :-)

After recording the DVD player, wont play on any other player

I have seen this on other players as well. What happens is the media your recording on is either too slow for the player and the player is recording faster than the media is supposed to handle. For some reason it works on the machine it was recorded on but nothing else.

Solution: Get media that matches the speed of the player.

If this is not the solution let me know I will get you one.
