Hey,
This is nothing to be afraid of. In LCD screens, it takes some time for the liquid crystal to heat up. Thats why manufacturers warn you not to change screen settings immediately after switching your TV on.
Hope this helps
Thanks

If all your other HDMI inputs are out, then I recommend replacing the MAIN PCB
try the following web site: https://www.encompassparts.com/model/ZEN55UB9500UA/_/_/LG/55UB9500UA/55_INCH_UHD_4K_SMART_3D_LED_TV_W_WEBOS

HOWEVER, PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU USE YOUR COMPLETE MODEL NUMBER TO ASSURE THE CORRECT PART.

20" lg LCD backlight turns off after about 5 seconds of use.

First, check the power supply for the backlight. It's usually a 24 volt supply. Look for swollen caps. If that is ok, go to the inverter board and inspect for damage, ohm out the inverter transformers. Last is to test out the lamps seperately with an external inverter. If a lamp goes out this way, it is bad and causing the whole backlight to go out.

I would call LG and have them assist you with a repair. The most helpful number is 877-543-8325. It doesn't matter if you are in or out of warranty.
