Question about TruTech PLV16320 Television
My tv just quit last night. I have only had it for 14 months. DOes anyone know of a fix to this or am i out of luck. Missy
Ok so here is my update. I spoke with people at Target's Corp. customer services. I had to jump thru some hoops, if you want my opinion, I think there are legal things going on between Target and Venture Electronics, formerly known as Alco, the suppliers of Trutech. I was giving two numbers to try from a woman at Target, who was very nice and helpful, but unwilling to elaborate to much. When both numbers failed she sent a Venture tech an email on my behalf. Two days later I was contacted by a rep who all of my info. The long and short of it is that I am right now two weeks later watching my formerly broken tv. Venture paid for my shipping both ways and fixed the tv. The tech did admit that the capacitors are a problem but in some cases there have been other issues as well. The tech I worked with might get pissed at this but who cares. The tech number is (905) 477-7878 his name is David, and his ext. 5095. He is very helpful but you have to stay on top of him, I had to call every other day for a week to get the shipping tag so I send them my tv. Good luck to all hope everyone is able to have the success I have.

Yeah umm is there any other way to see if the capacitor is blown other than buying a capacitor meter?

Heres what mine did:no picture no sound, when i hit the remote the indicator light went out....piece of crap is six months old, cant find any info on it, cant get a hold of anyone at Trutech.
So i took it apart, on the board that the power cord is attached to, i found six blown capacitors. There is also a big ass one in the middle of that board which looked ok but blew out the bottom.I replaced them, and im watching it as i type.
Its fairly easy but if your not comfortable soldering on a cheap circuit board, take it to someone.
I hope it helps, i think this repair will fix the other Trutech models with the same problems.

Replace c14 capacitor in power supply. It's the big one it's 450v 150uf capacitor.

My $250. TruTech TV died after 15 months. Do an on-line search and you'll find lots of Trutech losers (suckers). I went all the way to the top of Targets Customer Service trying to get some recourse but they don't give a damm. Not their problem. Yet. Sorry this happened to you. Boston
