Hi There,
on most monitors, no you cannot view the screen on portrait.

There are some larger, wide screen monitors that I have seen that allow you to twist and see the screen and picture vertical.

You have to get a monitor specifically to do this in the specs of the monitor.

Here is a Google search on models that you can do this with.

Hi!

Actually, you can do that with almost any monitor. All you need is a software or driver to rotate the contents of your screen by software. AFAIK, any reasonably new nVidia video card support this feature - see NVRotate. You probably can do the same with several other video cards, so try yo get more information about yours before you decide to buy another one just for this.

Of course, your monitor also need a stand that allows you to mount it in portrait mode, or even better, one that lets you change it to portrait or landscape modes. Once a rarity, this seems to be easier to find these days. Check out this Google search to find some products.

My screen is side ways how do i put it back to normal

Do you have a rotating monitor? There are a few that can be rotated 90 degrees in the plane of the screen for a "portrait view" instead of the standard landscape view, and they will automatically swap horizontal and vertical signals as needed. If you have one of these, the position detector switch is stuck in the wrong position. You may be able to get it unstuck by rotating to the other position and back again.

There are some programs (e. g., Acrobat Reader) that let you rotate the view of the file you have open, but that only affects the contents of the window, not everything on the screen. I'm not aware of a program that rotates the full screen view for the entire system.

Hi...my LG monitor has changed to portrait view and I would like it back to landscape...how do i do this?

Rotated or upsude down displays are caused by unintentional pressing Ctrl-Alt plus the down arrow key.
Restore by pressing Ctrl-Alt plus the up arrow key.
ALSO
To change the display from portrait to landscape
Press Ctrl-Alt plus a left or right arrow key.

Some computers do not have this function.

My new eos rebel xsi won't let me set it on portrait; instead it sets on landscape for both portrait and landscape

To take a picture in portrait mode, you just have to turn the camera 90 degrees. When you view the pics, the camera will automatically make the picture upright for viewing but it will still be a portrait.

Cant get inbuilt monitor speakers in Optima desktop pc to work

ome LCD monitors have inbuilt speakers and a headphone socket that can be very handy if, say, you're using a website that provides sound, such as the free language tutorials on http://www.bbc.co.uk. The internal speakers, of course, have to be connected to a sound card, just as external speakers have to be.

The inbuilt speakers in an LCD monitor are fine for the sound produced by websites, but if you want to use your computer to watch DVD movies, most authoratitive sources recommend the use of a separate sound system.

Most LCD monitors have an aspect ratio (see further down the page for more information on this) of 4:3, simply because the standard display resolutions (see further down the page for more information on this) such as 800X600 and 1024X768 have a height-to-width ratio of 4:3, which is what the aspect ratio is.

An aspect ratio of 4:3 is equivalent to the screen being viewed in the landscape printing orientation, and as such is ideal for dealing with documents, such as large spreadsheets, that are wider than they are high. But most document pages are best viewed in the portrait orientation, in which the height of the page is greater than its width. Therefore, some LCD monitors can be rotated through 90 degrees so that they can be viewed in the portrait orientation.

The monitors that allow rotation usually also come with the software that changes the output from the computer to match the portrait orientation of the screen. Pivot Pro is a good example of such software.

Elongated desktop and software screen images

Many graphic cards enable you to rotate the screen up to 360 degrees. You could try to post this question again under you graphic card model instead of computer screen model as it is your graphic card that is certainly the problem.
