I would suggest this (you haven't said what kind of tv you have). I have a 37 in vizio, and a 25 vizio flatscreen HD tv. I had my PS3 hooked up using HDMI first time I tried it I got the little pixels you were talking about...so do this. Sounds stupid but it helped me. The HDMI cable where it plugs into the tv plug and unplug a couple times (three times worked for me. Do the same at the PS3 side of the cable. You want to do this with both of the machines off. Also make sure you have the PS3 configured appropriately for your TV settings...There is a way you can auto setup the screen and sound by shutting the PS3 off and holding your finger on the power button for like 5-10 seconds (it will beep twice) then let your finger off the power button.

When my HDMI cable went bad it would go from having a picture and sound to having no sound and a picture, to no sound and no picture. I thought I had a bad HDMI slot...but it was just a bad HDMI cable

I would do some testing to figure out what is causing the problem.

First try hooking something else up to the TV, such as a DVD player or other gaming console. If you get the dots again then it's the TV that is having problems.

Second, if the TV passes the test then try connecting the PS3 to the TV using the RCA (red, white, and yellow) cable that would have come packaged with it. That will let you know if the HDMI cable is the culprit.

Third, if the first two did not help then it's looking like the PS3 is the one having problems.

Hope this helps :)

Sorry about that, I totally forgot about that problem.

You'll have to hook both the RCA and the HDMI connections to the TV to start. Using the HDMI connection you need to go into the PS3s settings and change the video settings to output to RCA instead of HDMI.

I gave a more in depth explanation in another solution:

Well from the looks of it HDMI is where the problem is, and yes, it could either be the cable or the HDMI port. Hopefully it's just the cable.

From here I would suggest picking up a new HDMI cable and testing it out, if you still have problems then it's the HDMI port and you're better off returning the HDMI cable. If your PS3 is still under warranty you could get it repaired, otherwise you may be stuck with using the RCA connection.

    Good luck :)

Hd tv as no hdmi plug

There are PS3-components cables available out there (the Red/Green/Blue one) you can use to connect your PS3 to your TV and still get HDTV on your TV system. You should be able to get it where you bought your Playstation. Got one for 39.99$ CAN

LG 42in plasma - Green dots on HDMI channel

The diffusion is slightly out of adjusment. This timing adjustment is difficult and on a single scan LG plasma the proper operation requires voltage settings first, then a scope to finalize the adjustment. I have good luck with this alignment by eye but have had alot of practice. This will require taking the back off and a person with the technical background to set this alignment properly. Sorry no easy fix.
