Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

Hello there. We have been trying to fix an intermittent audio problem on a Toshiba 29JZ5DM CRT TV but to no avail. We actually tried replacing the AN5277 audio output, check & established earth connections, fixed cold solder joints but still, the problem goes, then comes back the next day. Also, the problem comes whether the unit is cold or have been switched on for hours. Any help is highly appreciated. Thank you so much. -Ben F.(Manila)

Check all the capacitors you can find on the boards.... not just visually but with your fingers.... any that feel swelled up and or rounded on the top have failed. i realize this isn't the same as an lcd monitor but i had the same symptoms with it that you are experiencing and that was the fix... before you start touching the capacitors make sure the power has been off for at least a half hour... and still be careful.

Toshiba SD-P4000 TV no picture and intermittent audio. Had been fine. Bought Sept. /2004. Perhaps TV life is over? JK

You are correct but it can be fixed actually. The picture problem in your Y Sus and the audio problem is on your audio circuit. You need to decide to repair it or invest for new one.

Hello! The picture on my toshiba cz36v51 is halved vertically, and has a duplicate picture on either side. Is that fixable? This problem occurs when trying to watch movies, cable, xbox...etc. Fixable or...

Sounds like you have a horizontal timing error causing the mirrored image. It is fixable but would require the main board to be replaced. The part number is 23783078 but appears to be no longer available.

Toshiba tv, model cf32c50 has a garbled sound issue.

distorted sound sometimes accompanied by buzzing is caused by detuned circuit in the SIF amplifier and sound detector circuit. a distorted sound alone is caused by a breakdown in AF amplifier circuit so try to change the sound ic since its the only options left. good luck!

Are audio boards still avaiable for toshiba 30hf84

I have a Panasonic with a defective audio output, and found a cheap alternative to an impossible to repair problem.

Mine still had audio if I connected headphones to it, but the speakers would get nothing. I found that a decent set of computer speakers (with sub woofer) worked great, and I could move the speakers to provide awesome stereo. Sub woofer is behind the TV.

I did a quick look and did not see an audio specific board available. Likely, it's part of the main board and not cheap to replace.

I hope you can use my fix. It's actually a better sound now than original.

Toshiba CRT

Hi Keith,

Your Hi-Fi is designed to produce many watts of audio power. It would be a fair assumption that you took out the output section of the audio amplifier of the CRT.

The best way to accomplish sharing the speakers between the CRT and Hi-Fi would have been to use a switch box, that way both audio sources would be isolated from each other and whatever source was not being used would be put into a dummy load.

You need to find the Part number of the damaged part. If you open the CRT (power unplugged) you will probably be able to find it with your nose, since it was damaged and burned up.

Call MCM Electronics with the part number and see if they can cross reference a replacement for you.

Good Luck,
- Jim

Audio, but No video when connecting DVD player to TV

Try checking the AV cable. Just interchange the Audio and Video cables, and if now you get video, and no audio, problem is faulty cables. Replace.
