Remove the battery and check to see if there is a protective sticker over the contacts. If so, remove the sticker or object and reinsert battery. Remember the battery has to be charged before you can use it.

  • two ways to charge the battery:
    • while the laptop is on
    • while using the laptop with a power cord, but it will take charging time when you are using the computer.
  • --if the problem persist, the battery may have a problem, called dell technical support and have the battery serial number for possible battery recall. or replacement

New adapter computer will not come on and the battary will not carger the computer

You can test adapter output with any multimetr, if its working then try to boot laptop without battery, if not power on, then you can check power socet and fuse near power socet on motherboard. To reset CMOS on most laptops you need to remove CMOS battery from motherboard for about 15 minutes. Also, if it is not solve your problem you may add more detailed information about laptop model and details about this problems with pictures. Thanx

Dear Experts , I have a power problem with my DELL PP01L laptop ,it was very well operating and suddenly it goes off ,i tried to repower it on again but in vain ,Could it be a battery problem ? but i...

It should work even without the battery when the power adapter is connected. Try to check if there is a green light on the adapter itself. Also check the cable of the adapter and the contact point at the end of the cable that goes to your laptop as well as the port on your laptop. Check if they are broken. To test, borrow the same model of adapter that works.

My dell d610 sometime powers up in to xp then just freeze them sometime just 3 geen lights flash then nothing can you help

If there is a power issue, the first thing we need to determine is if it's the power adapter or the battery. Is there any difference if:

- You boot up with the battery in but the AC adapter not connected?
- You boot up with both the battery and AC adapter connected?
- You boot up with the AC adapter connected but the battery removed?

If different things happen for each of these scenarios, the problem is either a faulty power adapter or battery, depending on which one you can boot up without.

Powere adaptor has to be unplugged to boot

There could be a problem with the battery. A fast check to determine whether you have a problem with the power adapter, power cord or the laptop's battery is to turn off the laptop, remove the battery, connect the power adapter, turn on the laptop & see if it works.
If the laptop works directly from the power adapter with the battery removed, then the power adapter is good. In this case we can suspect that the battery is defective & needs to be replaced.

If this did not work, try also disassembling the laptop & make sure that all main components are seated properly. Also make sure that all ribbon cables interconnecting the various components of the laptop are tightly connected.

Connecting laptop to tv

1. If your tv has a PC input, use a vga cable, from any normal computer monitor.

2. If you use those HD connectors, match them to the correct colour coded inputs on the tv.

In each case, do all the connecting with the computer POWERED OFF. Then when connected, boot the computer, and allow Windows to auto-detect the 'new monitor', as it will 'see' it.

Then you shoud right click on your desktop, choose properties, and goto 'settings'. From there you will see monitors 1 and 2. click on the new monitor and 'enable' it.

You also have the option of 'extending' windows to the second monitor, as well as making this your 'default monitor'. Experiment to see what best suits your needs,
