Just updated my tv to a Samsung LED Smart TV model UN60F7050AF. The remote turns on everything, but the smart tv opens with several icons and the TV picture at the top left. The TV picture is highlighted to select, but I can't select it so it opens to fill the entire screen. If I go to my Samsung remote, I can just touch the pad and the TV picture opens to the full size. This defeats the purpose of a universal remote..Help.

SOURCE: Logitech Harmony 670 universal remote

Greetings Hendon,

The close captioning your looking for would have more to do your television or video source then your remote control.

Depending on how you receive your broadcasting you may want to make basic adjustments to your other equipment. If you receive it through your television you should check your television setup menu for something along the lines of "caption", "CC", or "Text". As well if you receive broadcasting through a cable or satellite box their setup menus should have options for similar options.

I hope this helps.

SOURCE: Abilities of Universal Remotes

Yes!
When you define different activities (such as Watch TV, Watch DVD, etc.) the remote will ask which of the TV inputs your device is plugged into.  After programming, when you select the appropriate activity, the remote will automatically select the correct input.

SOURCE: harmony 659 won't learn samsung LN-52A850S1F remote

Samsung has recently acknowledged an issue with 8 series LCD TVs (e.g. LN52A860). When the TV is first turned on, it outputs strong IR interference which can render the Harmony unable to control your devices for several minutes. After the TV is warmed up, the interference dissipates and the Harmony will work correctly again.

To determine if your Samsung television is causing the issue:

1. Start an Activity that uses your Samsung TV
Confirm the Harmony is not controlling your devices
2. Completely cover the screen of your television with a blanket or dark colored sheet
3. Try changing the channel. If the device now responds, the television is interfering with your devices. Please contact Samsung for support

It is possible that by disabling certain features on your TV can also resolve the issue. Features that may cause interference with your remote include:

1. DNR/Active Control
2. Power Saving Mode

To disable either of these features, please consult the user manual for your TV.

How do I fix my Samsung 40 LED TV that has sound but no picture?

Here is what to check when your TV is turned on, power light is ON, but no picture is seen or sound is heard:

1 - Be sure the component you are using (Xbox, Cable, SAT, ROKU) is turned ON.
2 - Check to be sure all cable and cords are securely connected to the TV inputs and component outputs.
3 - Make sure you are on the correct input as some TV's will show a black screen if there is nothing connected to that input.
4 - Unplug the input you are trying to use from the TV (such as an HDMI Cable) and plug it back in.
5 - Check for signs of damage on all cords and cables from the TV to all components.
6 - Make sure the TV is not in ENERGY SAVE MODE, press the button on the remote control to go back to normal mode.
7 - Unplug the TV for 10 minutes to see if there was a temporary one time issue with the TV.
8 - Disconnect the TV from power for 2 minutes, then when plugging it back in PRESS AND HOLD THE POWER BUTTON ON THE TV FOR 10 to 20 SECONDS to try and force the TV to reset.
9 - If after checking all these different issues, you may have a Faulty Power Supply Board, A Bad Capacitor on the Power Supply Board, Loose Wire Harness, or Loose Ribbon Connector in the TV itself.
10 - Most likely when a TV has the power light ON but NO PICTURE and NO SOUND, it is the Power Supply Board that has failed.

Is this tv a smart tv?

Good morning Shelly.
My Samsung smart TVs has a remote like the one in the picture.
In the middle, I hope you can see a multicoloured button that is to put on the smart function. It is best to go to menu on the remote, open Support and scroll down to Contact Samsung, go all the way down, there you see the model and make. You can also visit

TV has to be connected to internet, then use your remote to go to setup. You will find, somewhere in the setup, a section that refers to network connection.
