You can normally change the speed of the burning process through the options on the software you are using to burn.

DVD wont burn with dvd maker gets to 99% then stops

HI THERE,
When was the last time it was working fine?

• Do you have any third party CDDVD burning software?
• Are you able to burn DVD's using windows explorer?

First I would suggest that you try burning using another DVD and check if it works.

Method 1

Try one or more of the following:
Verify that the DVD burner is connected properly to your computer and powered on, and that any necessary software drivers for the DVD burner are installed. You can check your hardware settings in the Device Manager by doing the following:

1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
2. Click Hardware and Sound.
3. Click Device Manager.
• Make sure that the videos you're trying to burn are not corrupted. To see whether the videos you want to burn is corrupted, try playing or viewing them using Windows Media Player. If the files don't play using the Player, Windows DVD Maker cannot burn them.

• Choose a slower burning speed for your DVD burner by doing the following:
1. Return to the Add pictures and video to the DVD page, and then click Options.
2. In the DVD burner speed box, select Medium or Slow.

Method 2

Check if you are able to burn DVD successfully using Windows Explorer.

Method 3

Check in the event viewer to know the cause of the DVD burning failure and post back with the details.

Computer will scan the music its going to burn but when it is done scanning it puts up message "could not complete please make sure disc is clean or use a new disc or to set the burn speed to...

Hi.
I don't know if this is the case or not, but most burners will fail if you try to use an off name type of disk.
I have had a burner in my computers for several years now, and here is what I have found.
TDK, Maxell, and Dynex brand disks work almost every time.
Sony disks work most of the time, but only at lower to medium speeds.
Memorex disks are a crapshoot, you could have a stack of 50, and maybe 3 or 4 will fail, and then again, maybe 15-20 will fail.
GQ brand works great at slower speeds, but fail alot at high speeds.

Also, you may want to invent in a lens cleaner disk, as it might be that three is dust and dirt inside your burner, and that is what is causing your burner to fail out no you.

I hope this helps you out, and good luck to you.

I want to know how to speed up the burning process.

To speed up the burning process, you have to buy a cd or dvd which has the maximum speed. When burning you can set the burning speed by changing to maximum speed this will automatically detect the speed of your cdrom disc. Example for cd 52x and for the dvd 16x, another way is to upgrade your system ram memory by adding or replacing your memory or ram with a higher memory or capacity. Have a nice day

The CD/DVD burner can read, but can not burn. At maximum speed, it produces an generic error. At low speed, it burns seemingly but the burned CD cannot be read back.

Hello Sir,

It has to be a software error I think. Better try any other CD/DVD Burning software. Let me know if the problem persists.

you don't,
for reading the computer uses the fastest speed it sees fit.

for recording it will default to the fastest speed the media allows. but most applicaitons that you use for recording will let you choose slower if you want.

When i try to burn music...my cd burner quits at 12% and fails

the only solution is to buty an external cd/dvd burner with a buffer under burn built in in use a decent burning program like nero, or nti or any other ones that let you choose the burn speed as I use 8x for cd's and dvd's but somtimes the burner won't alow me to change speed.

I know this is the one way or have the burner looked at by an engineer thats the other solution.

Good luck with this one

you could do it, dont think it will make any difference to you though, if you have a slow pc it can affect copy speed, adding more ram can also improve time if you have less than 256mb, also the program i use is have nero installed but use a program called DVD Shrink which is a free program if you search on google.com. and maybe try burning using faster dvd discs, usually about 15-20 mins to burn a dvd but depends on the speed of drive and discs. hope it helps John

DVD - Slow burning speeds

Unlikely that there is a problem with the drive itself, most likely cause is software settings - which burning software are you using? if it is nero 6 then once you click burn after arranging the files for burning, the burn info page should pop up. click on the burn tab and make sure that "determine maximum speed" is checked and that write speed is set to maximum. hopefully this should solve it, if not try setting write speed to one of the slower settings listed and see if you get a better result. Sometimes dvd drives can slow right down when you are trying to push them to go at maximum. if you want to check what it should be able to do, try http://www.pcpro.co.uk/reviews/87363/sony-dru820a.html also worth trying is updating the drivers http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/FIRMWARE/Sony/Sony-DRU-820A-10b.shtml to make sure you have the most recent version. Another thing worth trying if you haven't already is try a different brand or type of disc - just occasionally there can be clashes with certain types and burners - if this seems to solve it, don't throw your pack of discs away, give them to someone with a different burner. The final possibility is a power supply problem. If your PC's power supply unit has spare connectors for a drive then try a different one - possibly your supply doesn't have enough guts to run a more modern drive - take the drive out and try it in another pc with a higher power supply wattage rating. Hope this helps :)

DVD Burner

Even if the burner is very quick, I suggest that you don't try and use it at it's maximum speed, but the lowest. Try 4x, and if it gives you DVDs that work, then you can start working upwards if 4x is too slow for you, untill you find the fastest speed that gives you working DVDs. Also shut down all other programs while burning, especialy heavy ones. If this is not it, and you keep having problems, add a comment. Good luck!
